Gaining momentum in the news. Would further cement the thinking that there’s some sort of bias if it isn’t even addressed. Surely annusley can comment on if it should have been a penalty without commenting on the length of his suspension?

haven’t posted until now, my thoughts for what’s it’s worth….

CNK - clearly busted, should not have played.
DWZ and Montoya both played pretty well.
RTS - looked a lot better
Pompey - can CHT please goal kick from the right???
Half’s - were due a bad night but the over reaction has been hilarious. Have we forgotten about how good they have been in the last few games. Yes, both were terrible on the 5th. CHT did kick for over 550m though and one of his field goals was in the money bar a grubby Reid finger tip. Unfortunately they were both off on the same night (didnt help with the dogs standing in our line all night)
They will be great again in the next game!!

Barny - the man!!!
AFB - very good
Egan - hmm can’t remember haha
Capwah - very good
Niukore - tuff again
Walker - good again

Leka - the man!!! Hopefully it’s not the last we see of him in first grade this year but wouldn’t surprise me.

Overall it was a bloody good game to watch.

I get that they ruled it wasn't high contact despite clearly there being head on head connection. I can kind of buy that. What I cant get is that it is quite clearly late. Surely they have a check where they are ruling out things as they go. Is it high? Is it late? are the two very obvious rulings that need to be made in this case. The fact he is admitting they didn't pay due regard to one of these is astounding given the time that the bunker had to review all of this with play stopped for a long period of time.

checklist:

was it late - yes
was it high - with available footage we can't determine that (despite clear evidence of head contact)

from there they determine the consequence for the player involved.
penalty, on report, sinbin, send off

The fact both were bleeding in the face only after the incident, showed evidence of a head clash, this news actually made me more angry, this is season on the line type of stuff, more serious than last year. Wouldn't mind they secretly decide to give us the 50/50 calls for the rest of the season.

Is TMM okay?

Must of been a male bunker, at least Casey Badger would of been able to do two things at once.

His explanation was the biggest whitewash I have ever heard

To say that he was charged not because it was a head clash but because it was late is laughable

Show me any other tackle in the NRL where a player has been charged with a Grade 2 DANGEROUS CONTACT where it was only a late collision!!!

Also there was a Tackle in the Roosters game where the player was tipped up so that his head was bent under him as he was rolled feet over head (far worse than RTS's charge) but no charge was laid

The NRL is as corrupt as fuck!!

Is TMM okay?
Played the rest of the game and doesn’t seem to be listed as injured, presume so? Shit you’d think with how late and careless this was that TMM’s history would come into consideration for just how bad this is from the nrl to let this go in the game without a penalty. Nothing can be done now and an apology worth nothing, even a suspension worth nothing as he’s out injured longer than the suspension but the nrl has failed TMM. What needs to be addressed is to why at times we see penalties for far lesser contact, and the lateness is beyond ridiculous. This is actually so bad and blatant that Toovey’s investigation needs to be opened. It’s perfect timing with such a senior figure in Bennett recently asking questions on this exact circumstance

Vossy and Corey saw the one replay that all TV audiences saw and knew immediately it needed proper checking.

The rule used to be contentious when they came down hard on it a few seasons ago and they then explained the whiplash effect from a player relaxing after passing etc and we've all now come to expect the margin of error is tiny these days. Its astonishing that was missed in the weekend.

FFS the ball was in a different town not even the same postcode when TMM was clattered into - it didn’t need a bunker intervention, the on field blind Freddy should have seen it and if not him the near side TJ!!

In the picture on the right, the ball is just leaving the hands and look how far he still is away. Highly irregular that with such contact that the bunker wouldn’t review that. As I keep banging on about, they had time to review Montoya’s contract and call it back

Do you really believe the "soz missed it lol" statement they put out? It all seems a little too easy to roll that line out imo. Instead of tinkering with the game they should sort out the officiating and make sure that's up to standard. Games gotten so quick they can't even keep up!
