It's why I find people saying we shouldn't criticise the halves on one performance really weird.

There is only ever one performance, the last one.

We completely dominated the Dogs and should have won.

In all honesty it's been a pretty fucked season. Many of us (myself included) are saying finals are still a chance.

We're bottom 4 with a negative PD!
Don't despair Maka; we have two byes coming and plenty of football ahead.

For sure. But I’m not looking for excuses. I’m looking for accountability. And a huge part of our lost came from 1. Ref 2.CHT. 3.TMM

RTS wasn’t that great. Neither was Pompey. The backs let the forwards down yesterday.

When CHT makes good he’ll get the flowers. When he’s makes mistakes he gets the strap.
Keep in mind that our back three left the field. And Capewell and Halasima played well out of position. Who actually were our wingers at full time?

Pretty sure Pompey ended up left wing. Not sure who was on the right? Seems ridiculous that it’s not the exact set of circumstances that the 18th man can be activated and carrying Tuaupiki becomes a great decision. Could have been a hint that CNK was struggling?

I think Capewell was the other winger. So I'm just trying to remember our backline for critical analysis purposes

1. RTS for CNK
2. Capewell for DWZ
3. Halasima for RTS
4. Walker for Pompey
5. Pompey for Montoya
6. CHT
7. TMM

Imagine a starting backline of

1. RTS
2. Capewell
3. Walker
4. Halasima
5. Pompey
6. CHT
7. TMM

And a prop named Freddy Lussick

Imagine running with that backline and knowing you don’t know how to kick a clutch field goal lol

I find it funny people wanted the halves to take the field goal earlier ie late in regulation time, didn’t they do that eventually, including golden point, like 3x, all failed?

If it’s not fixable maybe they should just practice a diversion play, like set it up and Egan with a fake and dart, pop it to AFB close to the line, or dummy and grubber behind, the markers will all rush out

SJ started to be a gun when he fooled the Storm defenders at the clutch in the GF qualifier in his first year, then scored a famous golden point try in his 5/6th year vs Sharks, 2 droppies at the death to beat the Raiders in his 8th year, on his 10th year his last minute droppie beat the Panthers with the Sharks, his 11th year he beat the Cows and Raiders in golden point, 12th year beat the Raiders again in golden point and sealed the game with a droppie vs Manly in the same year

CHT missed droppies from the front in his 3rd to 4th year, took a break came back in his 6th year since debut and missed 2 easy droppies after a wild no look pass to the cameraman earlier

CHT seems to have the South African gene, the cricket one, might get a DNA test to see if he’s related to Nico Hynes, both look handsome and the poets type

Edit: to be fair I’ve seen a few goal kickers miss at the death in my time, and all the ones I remember nail them at the deaths in future opportunities, Jordie Barrett, Ihaia West etc, not drop goals but maybe CHT can get scarred and be more composed and turn it around next time, like just stab it higher man
Regarding CHT. It all remains to be seen if he develops the killer instinct or not. But to quote a bloke who misses a lot. Michael Jordan said something like he missed a million more shots than he made. Can't remember the rest but he became clutch as we'd like all our playermakers to be.

we would have rolled them in the 2nd half if the big man upstairs didn't decide to fuck with us by removing our entire backline. Dogs had nothing in attack and were getting dominated by us in the middle.

The annoying thing is they get all the good stuff from that win. When you win tough tight games your confidence balloons.

They're eyeing up that 4th spot now and who would bet against them?

For us, we are in despair again and I'm glad we have the bye. That might just help us avoid a spiral.

Despite the effort I imagine we are not feeling that great about ourselves. Not much of a springboard to finish the year either.

I feel we've wasted our forward pack this year. Such a shame.

What you’re alluding to is clutch moments. As full time professionals halves, if kicking is difficult for them, then they need to double down on practicing. Not practicing no look passes to no one..
No, what I'm saying is that there is no time in the training week and the recovery required during the playing season, to fully fatigue the team so that they can emulate the golden point field goal scenario.

I don't know of any team that trains for this specifically.

No look passes are stupid.

I am out. I`m not watching NRL anymore. Sure, there were chances to win the game and if TMM or CHT had hit the field goals, the Warriors would have won. However, when the ref and bunker ok a clear dangerous, late, high shoulder charge against the Warriors, there is no explaining that. The NRL is clearly an entertainment company with money on their mind. Not sure how detailed the plan is, but there is clearly one in place. I refuse to watch this. Kind of sad, because I feel for the Warriors and used to enjoy watching them.

Lots of positives to take from that game.

- Character in adversity, losing our back three & not dropping our bundle
- The rise of a great new prospect in Leka, a player who adds a point of difference to the
- Inruin being proved wrong and that the NRL refs definitely rule us differently
