Add in CNK being inside the 10 pen early in the game when the wide shot clearly showed he wasn’t- the one which had Brandy saying how good Gee was!!
Yeah, he was clearly on-side - forgot about that one, blanked maybe cos that was when my step-daughter came in from the other room to see if there was something wrong with all the shouting - embarrassing

Usually after controversies like the Egan no try they remedy it in the following rounds. Likewise we saw a penalty try this weekend one round after the illegal contact on Sami last week in a scoring action that was just deemed a penalty. In fact the penalty try given in the weekend was identical to the non-call on DWZ when he was tackled in the air at Newcastle last season.

Did Kikau promote the ball at all to score the try or was it momentum that got him across the line? I think clearly momentum.
He promoted the ball - but is was 50 50 - he clearly lifted his arm up and moved it back down again. Had he just slid along the ground with the ball in this arm he would have got there anyway so I didn't care too much. But technically a double movement all day long.

The rule interpretation with wet weather skid across the try line tries is that for the entire skid of or slither or whatever you want to call it you have to have the ball pressed against the ground the entire time and keep you arm motionless and skid over the try line with the ball still pressed against the ground. He did neither of these things and lifted his arm and the ball and put them back down again when over the line. double movement hard out.

However my real beef was he scored the "try" of the back of two six agains where we did nothing wrong and that was my reel beef with the try.

I wrote my complaint today - 50% of it was about Gee the other 50% about aboloshing the 6 again rule as it leads to marginal infringements getting whistled that should be play on.

I've tried to stay away from here after our poor game on the weekend, but wanted to ask what peoples thoughts were when Demi had been hit fairly high late in the game.

The third ref said that Demi ducked into it, so no penalty.
Is that the rule? What was everyone's thoughts? Often defenders are pinged, even when the player with the ball is falling or off balance....so why didn't we get a penalty? Hit him pretty square in the face I thought

im fine with this call if they were consistent, but ive seen multiple ones this year with guys falling over getting a whack to the head and winning penalties. hell even the 'high' shot from DWZ late against dolphins wasnt as bad

Tooks it was a bullshit non-call

A penalty everyday of the week and twice on a Saturday night.

Any contact with the head is a penalty and then it’s over to the MRC to determine if any mitigation.

The only thing I can think of is that Gee missed it and the bunker determined that it was not reportable and stayed out of it

Yeah that's what I was thinking....I can't remember a time - especially when the 3rd ref has a look - where someones clearly been hit high, yet it's not a penalty. It hit him around his nose!

I reckon it will be similar to the Egan no try, I bet you we get penalized or even binned for a high shot in the next few weeks that have mitigating factors like that

I am not going to reply any more in the thread. If anyone wants to engage with me further on this topic you can PM me. No one has said anything wrong or rude. Everyone has been collegial and polite. I have decided as part of my efforts to lose weight that I am spending too much time on this forum and not enough time exercising and doing my long term goals. I am going to respond only to personal messages mid week and will save my forum posts for the weekend. Thanks,

Save yourself for the summer holidays comp mate!

To the letter of the law the ball hadn't cleared the ruck. But that is the case at nearly every play the ball.
It's something that annoys the f out of me. They should automate it, use AI to make the call but they need to clarify the rule first
Yeah at the time I thought it was a bit harsh but he def took off early & I think what probably got him was the fact the rest of our defensive line was fucking slow to move so he was about 6 metres ahead of the rest of them.

Anything to do with who made the tackle? Some players can do no wrong.

The rugby gods approve!
Hopefully this virgin sacrifice is enough
Good luck “exercising” @Wrighty 😉

Because the full match replay came up on youtube I went back to look at the Capewell tackle he was penalised for to see if I could understand what went on there any better. Turns out it's worse than on first viewing - so the original call by Gee is that Capewell takes a player out (Kurt Mann) - which looks odd cos on the TV coverage the shot goes from wide to short at the exact moment of the play - Warriors challenge, the bunker confirms the penalty by saying Capewell made a 'defensive decision' - but in the wide shot you see with the replay you understand that Burton as the ball carrier knows he's run behind Mann and starts the process of surrendering - which contradicts the bunker call by definition, because at that point there's no defensive decison to be made (the surrender tackle on Burton is about to be completed by Demi). CHT asks Gee on ground to explain further - Gee says 'I blew it up becuase there was no disadvantage and you can't just take a player out' - which really seems like a retrospctive reinterpreation because the wide shot confirms Mann contacts Capewell and TSS as Burton goes behind him and not when he starts to surrender - worse, Capewell and TSS actually pull out of the contact and Mann takes a dive (which is the moment when the penalty is blown) in a move that we'll see Creighton also pull out later in the game ... it really is the most fucked call on every count ... and in teh whole sequence you can't really see where Gee is watching the play from cos he's retreated beyond the frame of the shot to set the next 10m line
