If we didn't lose out back three and could have kept Walker ball playing in the middle we likely would have been all over them.

Our wingers get a lot of praise for their early set carries. They were actually better today making breaks and half breaks which gave us an even better platform.

We were all over them

A lot of points went begging in the first period of the second half.

CHT no look over the sideline perhaps one of the most embarrassing things I've seen in a while.

Jazz on report for a crusher that Kikau repeated to him in our last set.

Montoya on report for a shoulder that Kikau repeated in our last set.

TMM hit high and late. Cleared by the bunker. Dumped late on his next kick too.

The refs notoriously put the whistle away in golden point, but players and fans need consistency.

Gutted.

Doesnt deserve to be a loser with that sort of effort.

Bulldogs werent that great, Down to no players on the bench, forwards playing as wings......that was hearty as.

Just want to single out some of Rogers runs in that extra time......absolutely huge.

This one hurts

Yet another example of a draw being the right result rather than this golden point unofficiated lolly scramble

Also have to give the Bulldogs some credit for their defence. We got over the line 4 or 5 times that were held up.

TMM putting his hand up and owning it in the post game interview.

Honestly there was lots to like on the game under incredible adversity.

Unbelievable the difference between the titans effort and tonight's game.

Wow what a game. One thing I learned is that we are a much better side than the Doggies. We had so many playing out of position but our scrambling on D was amazing. I know people complain about our halves but they were everywhere on D so would have been knacked. Capewell showed his quality tonight. Leka needs to play much more this season. They need to manage him and get him the rest he will need but that type of X factor is what we have been asking for. Also how the fuck is Barnett not in the 17 for the blues. Guy is a dead set legend.

That was heartbreaking. Sadly I think that is our season effectively done and dusted with no finals football this year. I am bummed about this for a few reasons - It wouldve been great to have built on last years momentum and support, it wouldve been great to have had another finals experience for the players to build on, and I genuine think we can compete with any team in top 8 on our day. But in this comp to succeed you need a lot to go your way, and this season it hasn't unfortunately. We have been chasing our tails since those first 2 losses.

I will say though that after losses this year I havent been frustrated or bummed about it like I have in the past, and that is largely because even with our losses we have put in a hell of a lot of effort. The Titans shitshow aside (maybe the Dragons game too), I genuinely felt like these guys cared and were giving it everything. That wasnt always the case in most seasons past.

Also what has kept my feeling positive about the club is that the future is bright! Take a look at Halasima as an example today! Our pathways will only get better and stronger but we now have some great local kids on the cusp of first grade. We also have a coach that genuinely cares as well but also one who is very astute (yes he will have his naysayers like the majority of coaches) and to me he is our man.

He was gutted in the press conference saying their were plenty of injured bodies "with tears and all sorts of stuff", so its going to be a rough run into the back end of the year. But the optimistic part of me says, this means we will have to give some of these exciting young bucks more game time which can only set us up well for the future.

Just on the game. I thought Capewell was massive out there. Showed his worth today. Also thought that shot on TMM not being called was just bullshit too.

Onwards and Upwards.

Capewells best game in a warriors jersey. Since he’s returned from qld camp I’m starting to see the little things he does & the reason he was signed. He’s extremely reliable, does a tonne of effort players and tough hit ups. He’s by no means a superstar, but he certainly adds value to our group.

Walker is superior to Tohu at lock, move Tohu into the middle rotations & take the ball playing away from him. Walker is far more dynamic & his leg speed is priceless.

Roger was very impressive tonight, even before his move to fb. He was very busy & they were giving him early ball tonight.

Barnett is lowkey shaping as one of our best signings of all time, the man is a machine. If JFH doesn’t come in and take captaincy, then this man is the next guy up. His effort areas & mongrel is critical to our success, give the man a blues jersey already.

Leka Halasima.. kid gives SBW vibes. We’ve got a special one there.

NRL Physio is reporting Salmon broke his jaw and is out for 4 - 5 weeks.

We were never getting a pen while he was spitting blood and teeth everywhere
While being aware that every club would surely feel like they cop a raw deal every week, I’m a bit perplexed as to some of the calls we’re getting over multiple grades. I thought TMM had clearly shifted the ball on in the situation you’re talking about, Salman probably committed and no way to pull out but failed a duty of care and hit TMM in the head. Not that he should be treated any differently but surely a guy that’s had a brain bleed in the past should be able to feel like the nrl is doing all they can to protect him. The problem I’ve got is consistency. You could see that in another game and it’s called for foul play, you know when Aussie commentators are blowing up that there’s something dubious in the call. A few weeks ago RTS was sin binned for a tip tackle that Koriasau did the following weekend also with a sin bin admittedly, the difference was Annersley in the RTS offence first said the ref got the call correct, then the following weekend in the Koriasau tip tackle that was the same Annersley says Koriasau was wronged and shouldn’t have been sin binned. Then there’s the nsw cup incident last week that was one of the poorest refereeing displays I’ve seen. The way Warriors players were treated by the referee in facing a guy attacking a player with headbutts and punching was quite unbelievable, and the fact we have two binned to their one after the incident is fascinating. Worse again that the player only got 3 weeks suspension. They’ve said since that they got it wrong with binning Laban but like with all the apologies they have to issue, it’s too late if the game is gone because of the mistakes which it didn’t come to in that game thankfully. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate Webster building a resilience in not addressing poor calls and the potential of players attitudes to suffer, but I think we’ve had some shockers lately

Last week TMM and CHT were the future of the club and the second coming of Jesus; now they’ll never ever be a good enough pairing. The fickle fan base will never cease to amaze me.

Halasima’s mum said to play with honour and have fun - she should be so proud.

Boys left it all on the field, the bye is well needed, the seasons not over yet and that the type of hearty performance we can build upon - fantastic line D, showing up for one another, desperation. Love it.

The ref can always make a bad call or miss one but we shouldn’t be relying on those to go our way at all

I'm still a bit salty, so if I sound like a prick I apologise in advance lol.

For me, the point your missing is that were not 'relying' on calls to go our way, but I'm complaining about the lack of consistency.

The Montoya hit on Tracy was called back three tackles later for a penalty. The normal ref missed it, but the 3rd ref made a point to halt play and go back to that.

If a referee decides to play it that way, fair enough. I thought that tackle was fine, but if you call that one, then you HAVE to call the TMM one.
To have a stop in play and multiple looks at that, and to determine that wasnt a penalty, yet you're happy to call something back three plays later is weak. Imo it's borderline cheating. They're changing their interpretation mid game, so how can we know where the line is drawn?

I thought at times we were slowing the play down in the ruck a lot and didn't get penalised. The same for the Bulldogs at times too. I don't think you hear anyone complaining about that, because the ref was consistent for both teams.

Someone else pointed out too, look at the shit calls that we've been given in the last few weeks - the RTS binning, the Chanel sin bin for dropping the ball on Chad's head, Laban sin binned for being a punching bag for big red.
They were all shit calls. But, I'm happy for those calls if they're consistent across the board. But they're not.

I don't think asking for a game of footy to be consistent is unreasonable, however any time it's brought up us as fans are labelled sooks. It's pretty fucked really

Jaeman Salmon faces a two-to-three match ban for a tackle on Warriors halfback Te Maire Martin that left the Bulldogs forward with a suspected broken jaw on Saturday.

Salmon was charged with Grade 2 Dangerous Contact for the incident which occurred late in regular during Canterbury's 13-12 Golden Point win at Accor Stadium.
Now this is completely fucked. How was this let go without penalty? Noticed in the press conference after the game that when Webster was asked on it, he said he hadn’t seen then looks over to Barnett and asks him what he thought, then says I won’t throw you under the bus. Webster needs to defend his players and the lack of care for them because the nrl isn’t doing it. Same with Laban last week in being attacked and then getting the same punishment in the game as his attacker. Something feels really off in the Warriors treatment lately

It’s been a very even season and we’ve had some awful luck. If Xavier Coates doesn’t do us in the storm game and we had justice in the dogs game, we’d be pushing for top 4. We’ve also had games like the manly draw where their tries were from kicks and against run of play and ours were breaking the line. We’ve been the better side in losing games quite often this season. Sometimes you flip a coin 10 times and its tails every time.
So I really think despite our position we can still fight for finals

BUNKER HOWLER ROBS WARRIORS

That said, it was embarrassing that the Bunker totally ignored Jaeman Salmon’s late shot on Te Maire Martin that should have secured the Warriors’ the win in regulation time.

How does the Bunker miss that?

Answer: they didn’t miss it, they chose to ignore it.

And there is a huge difference.

Yet you can only put it down to the fact the under fire officials didn’t want to make the big call to decide the match.

How else can you explain what happened after both players stayed down and Salmon had to leave the field with a suspected broken jaw.

Yet Bunker sensationally decided not to award a penalty that would have gifted the Warriors a 14-12 lead heading into the final minutes.

The Warriors ended up going down 13-12 in extra time.

It’s embarrassing.

What made it worse was that Salmon was subsequently hit with a grade two dangerous contact charge which carries a two-game ban with the early guilty plea.

This is exactly the type of howler Wayne Bennett was blowing up about in his recent interview with foxsports.com.au, when the super coach was calling for every high tackle that is not clearly accidental to be penalised.

You wonder why so many coaches, players and fans are so frustrated.

In the context of the Warriors’ season that one decision could be the difference between playing finals footy this year and missing the top eight.

A Monday apology doesn’t cut it

Yes, every sport does. However, it is the same old thing week in and week out. Biased calls, Annesley blabbering on trying to justify it or apologize and then anticipation for the next game only to have a repeat of the cycle. The Warriors do not stand a chance in the Australian comp.. If it was fair or decisions were close calls, then I accept that, but there were at least three infringements in that play and the ref and bunker turned a blind eye to it. I t will continue to happen and I can`t watch that.

I’ve felt this view for a while now - even when we were winning and getting some favourable calls in favour instead of against.

But that only solidified my theory about game management even more. some of you may call it incompetence from officials nothing more. But how is it incompetence when it becomes predictable?

You watch enough (I use to watch every game) you can start seeing the patterns and exactly what’s at play.

1. Entertainment is first. The nrl want competitive and close games so the product is marketable in a heavily competitive environment. Abdo and vlandys clearly care more about the business than they do about the sport.

2. Fixtures - they need to set games up that they they are heavily invested in. Grudge matches, finals replays etc etc a lot of officiating is swayed by this.

3. There’s way more but I can’t be fucked 😂😂 I need to do some work

I get that they ruled it wasn't high contact despite clearly there being head on head connection. I can kind of buy that. What I cant get is that it is quite clearly late. Surely they have a check where they are ruling out things as they go. Is it high? Is it late? are the two very obvious rulings that need to be made in this case. The fact he is admitting they didn't pay due regard to one of these is astounding given the time that the bunker had to review all of this with play stopped for a long period of time.

checklist:

was it late - yes
was it high - with available footage we can't determine that (despite clear evidence of head contact)

from there they determine the consequence for the player involved.
penalty, on report, sinbin, send off
His explanation was the biggest whitewash I have ever heard

To say that he was charged not because it was a head clash but because it was late is laughable

Show me any other tackle in the NRL where a player has been charged with a Grade 2 DANGEROUS CONTACT where it was only a late collision!!!

Also there was a Tackle in the Roosters game where the player was tipped up so that his head was bent under him as he was rolled feet over head (far worse than RTS's charge) but no charge was laid

The NRL is as corrupt as fuck!!

Feel so angry for the players and happens to all clubs but feels like we cop more than our share
One thing I was surprised to learn going to away games in Aus is that pretty much all fans of all teams feel they are picked on more than the other teams, most of them have some far flung reason as to why this is that they’re convinced is true. I try to remember that when we cop a few head scratchers, in many cases there’s no grand conspiracy it just happened to the team we support and being the NZ team there’s an easy excuse for fans, also being the only NZ team it gets a lot more focus in our own market compared to one where there’s multiple teams.
In saying all that there is also some inexcusable calls and it’s hard not to take it personally when it happens to your team, the way the refs ‘manage’ a game and choose when to and when not to enforce rules opens up a massive can of worms.
Was interesting watching Anneslies explanation video- the guy did not believe a word of what he was saying, I know you can’t re award competition points but apologies are worthless at the end of the day

Watching them wank on about that Kikau hit too on nrl 360, fuck all wrapping motion there. Montoya’s was legal if that was

I gotta be honest.

Wahs were flavour of the month last year and we got a bunch of favourable calls.

Bulldogs are this years flavour and the wanking won't stop until their season ends. Ciraldo is surely $1.01 to be coach of the year this year.

I just really hope we beat them in Auckland, somehow scrape into 8th and beat them again in the finals.
