Sacking Annesley is not the answer, he will only be replaced by another suit and it will be rinse and repeat. The main thing that needs to be addressed is Accountability.

I'm keen to explore two options:
  1. Last 10 minute report (similar to NBA 2 minute report).
  2. An additional Captains Challenge in Golden point.

Last 10 min report:
An official review released by the NRL that evaluates the officiating in the final 10 minutes of games and any golden point periods.

The idea is one for accountability but also, we are rightly or wrongly fixated on one single decision. An officiating report may support we got robbed or show that on balance in the final 10 mins we or they or whatever should also have received penalties here, here and here...

It's not perfect but short of wheeling the officials out into a post match press conference (which is never ever going to happen) it is at least one way to find some accountability.

Golden Point Captains Challenge:
Each team shall receive 1 captains challenge in golden point
  • You either keep the one you have
  • If you have already used it, you get given 1 for golden point.
The refs are shit scared of making a decision, put the power into the players hands.
  • We believe without Mahoneys tip, the kick seemed to be going over
  • We believe Mahoney was not square at marker.
  • We should have the right to challenge it!

Anyway, that's my two pieces I would like explored.

The guy is living in denial and ignorance. He has to go. Your options are simple and logical. The fact he can’t come up with simple solutions himself reinforces my view that something is rotten at the top. Clean them out.

If he just owned up that his team got it wrong I wouldn’t feel so annoyed.

“We screwed up. We’ll do better next time”

Thats all he has to say.
Not difficult.

That's exactly what happened though on his press conference...

"We think the officials missed it and it's unacceptable"

"It should have been a penalty"

Problem is they have been owning up to it for years! It just never improves.

Oh I didn’t listen.
Ok, in that case he can keep his job?!! 😃
Maybe there needs to be some monetary compensation like 10K each time they screw up. At least the club gets something back.

I am trying to think of the worst NRL decisions I have seen and this is quite high on my list.

Especially in the context of a precedent being set earlier in the game with going back for the Montoya penalty.

Years ago there was a forward pass called on Roger that would have been the match winning try and the forum was ropeable as replays showed it was flat.
Two months ago there was a kick in the in goal area where we scored and they disallowed it.
There was Dallin being tackled in the air to prevent a try which was a head scratcher about 6 weeks ago.

Bit at a loss as to why it wasn't a penalty on Saturday. We can't go back in time though. And there is nothing that can be done about it.
I still remember that forward pass. Terrible; we have been coping it for years.

We’ll never know but we all agree the wrong call was made.

The officials don’t care about safety. They are doing lip service to please the woke culture.

Salmon walked away with a broken jaw, blood streaming from his face. There was zero care of duty by the ref to check the cause and effect. They are not interested. The result is more important.
If by woke culture you mean trying to prevent CTE and GBH, I hope that's what they're doing.

Well we might as well just stop playing the sport all together …

UFC, boxing - ban it all… 🤷🏻‍♂️

End of the day - if you decide to play you take the risk - your decision, you own it.
Yeah not that simple when the league can be sued though. And who are the lefties, the Labour Party? They're the biggest leagueies, not your right wing Union types mate. Wakey wakey BM.

Annesley is the Phillip Morris spokesperson of the NRL. When a PM spokesperson moves on (and joins the National Party) another takes their place.

Annesley is doing exactly what the NRL needs him to do.

Grade 2 for a late hit (but legal tackle) is hilarious though! But Annesley has gaslighting down to a fine art (in his head) so it must be our mistake.

NRL 360 - no mention of the late hit even though it cost us the game and The NRL just admitted it was a bad miss.

NRL360 love talking about the NRLs incompetencies, poor officiating, game changing decisions and the lack of protection for halfbacks. But not in this case? Completed ignored?

That is some next level bullshit.

Remember the fucking song and dance they made about Harry grant getting incorrectly sin binned? They literally made the ref apologise for his behaviour.

The endless protection of their previous Moses, Cleary and Walsh is fucking sickening. But not for poor TmM, a bloke who’s made a miraculous return free retiring from a brain bleed that nearly cost him his life.

Not difficult.
It needs to be how did they screw up and how are they going to be better next time.

For every challenge or try review they roll through everything from start to finish, checking off every small detail.

How they didn't start with TMM has the ball, he passes, the tackle is late, checking for whether it was high and could the tackler have pulled out or reduced the impact.

Now what part of that process wasn't followed, why wasn't it and how do you stop it happening again?
