The other thing about Ford is that he is super involved. He’s all out, for 80 minutes. Doesn’t have the best hands and isn’t a visionary playmaker but is always there to do the hard work. I was surprised last night with how many times he popped up in plays

Good comparison, took Lane quite a while to show what was really there, he looked awkward, slow, and weak in the contact till he matured eh, now he is a weapon.

I'm happy Ford took the tackle, hes not the player i'm expecting to make a money ball at speed to Metcalf. Maybe in time his ball playing ability will improve, but unless it's a sitter i'm hoping he takes the tackle and gets a quick ptb like he did last night.

It was the correct play for the player that had the ball.

Those three errors he had in 10 minutes were tough vs Sharps, but the last two games hes been really solid. Definitely a player that will take time and perserverance to become the complete package as not naturally gifted with ball in hand, he's an 80min work horse.

Yeah I think some arm chair critics are too quick to criticise and hang a guy from one bad game. Even the game day thread, some were ready to hang Montoya and team when the raiders scored …. Laughable!

Mannering used to take the tackle all the time and we forgave him. As you say, a player that knows their limits is not a bad thing.

We do not seem to have a problem defending offensively down other teams ends this year. And we know we are one of the most dangerous Red Zone set play sides in the comp.

Patience then, is our friend. With our strengths both sides of the ball, we should be all about mounting pressure and living in the right end of the field.

Yeah, for an example you only have to look at Metcalf passing to Montoya who was bundled into touch last night. (I know Metcalf isn't a centre but that's the sort of situation a centre is often faced with)

That was Ford last night holding up the pass to Metcalf.
Try followed soon after
Throw a bad pass and cause the turnover and we end up the other end of the park.

He's just small bro. Not sure if he has the frame to build more muscle either. Opposing players only need to get a hold of a little bit of his jersey or shorts and he's going nowhere lol. Of similar size Welsh has quite big muscular legs on him. Plenty of leg drive along with his blistering speed to break tackles.

He’d do well at the raiders I reckon trailing their strong centres. They had success with CNK and wouldn’t be surprised if they’re having a look with the now fullback Rapana in his final season?

No excuse for Ford not to pass it. He wouldn't be getting excused if we hadn't scored right after or had lost the game. That was a simple option and a pretty routine pass. Hopefully he learns and does better next time because he runs enough good lines to make more breaks this year.

I agree. I am a fan of Taine. Courageous for his size on defense. Quick feet, Good step & good footy brain. Would love to see him pack a little bit more muscle on his frame. Especially his legs. Needs a bit more power to drive through those tackles he almosts breaks.
