Pick Your Team Warriors v Roosters - [Round 3, 2025]

🤖 Thread Summary

The discussion centers on potential team changes for the Warriors' upcoming Round 3 match against the Roosters, following their recent win. A major point of debate is whether coach Webster will alter a winning team, with many participants believing he will stick with the same lineup unless injuries force changes, as Noitall #21 suggests it is hard to imagine Webster will change a winning team when he just backed a losing team. However, there's significant discussion regarding individual player performances and potential replacements.

Several contributors are advocating for certain players to get a chance, particularly Jacob Laban and Rocco Berry, who are performing well in the NSW Cup. There's a strong push from Damo #57, among others, to "bring him in Webby," referring to Laban's outstanding form. Questions are raised about the best way to integrate Berry back into the side, Neo #33 brought up a key question around whether Berry should play on the left or right, given previous combinations.

The performance of Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad CNK is another recurring theme. While some feel he's not performing at his peak and suggest Taine Tuaupiki should take over fullback duties, others like Completion Rate #86 defend CNK, highlighting his tough carries and contributions to the team's overall strategy. Concerns are also raised about Tuaupiki's lack of height being a potential weakness against the Roosters' wingers, and Five&Last #23 cautions against playing him on the wing. sydneywarrior92 #50 emphasized the need to win home games, as the Roosters are beatable despite coming off a high.

I've gotta assume (hope) that if one 2nd rower goes down injuried he is first to fill in the gap. Where Leka and Vaimauga will probably stay as impact bench players. That way there is less shakeup on injury and we keep juniors.

But Laban is the one player I'm dying to see enter the 17. I really don't want to see him look anywhere else. Especially if he is only signed till 2026.

Jacob is on fire.

I am one of the posters who spotted him early and proclaimed he will be one of the Warriors greatest ever defensive forwards.

He is the toughest junior we have produced in decades.

On top of all of that he is a big unit with nice hands and a good read of the game.

He is far more promising than Halasima and SIfakula. But I agree with him not getting picked ahead of our Aussie veterans. As a work horse you have to wait your time, experience counts ahead of potential in the high workrate positions in an NRL team.
I don’t agree with more promising than Leka and Demetric. The power in those two is just something you can’t replicate. Remember that Laban has played NRL before and not had the immediate impact that those two have. I do think that Laban can be a 10 year player at the Warriors, but man Leka is just the ultimate prototype for the modern forward.

Hard top look past those numbers, but I have a feeling they're building his motor so he can do the same in FG, he's not going to get there in 19m bursts. The pace of Fridays game and Capewell did it for 80m, in his best game for a long time. Impressive.

Blacktown has had the wood on us for a couple of seasons from memory, so not a bad side. I think if Laban can string together 3 of these performances on the trot the drumbeats are going to become undeniable.... here's hoping. Damn good problem to have

Those were two tough games for cup and they cane away with the 2 points both times.

I agree with you on Laban. Build him up properly. He is going to be a beast but 15 - 20 minutes off the bench isn't going to do it. It will be interesting to see how AW handles Demetric and Halisima with their minutes and whether he gives them a run in cup at some stage to get their minutes up

would rotating one to long minutes in NSW each week work you reckon? I'm thinking not as Demi and Leka are running as middles... and Webby likes to hit&stick. Still....there are merits if you want to see them building from 20m to 30+ mins over the season and have all 3 FG ready in the event of injuries.

Ale is going well in cup. And it's only round 2. But I'd be looking at rotating them at some point to get their minutes up. Or start increasing their minutes in first grade.

The last few years we have struggled to get the same team on the park a few weeks in a row. Usually someone has picked up a penalty or injury.

This 17 turned around the Vegas performance so I'd give them another week together.

I didn't see all of the NSW Cup but what I did see there are some guys putting pressure on which is great to see. Hopefully they are creating enough debate each week.

Did we sustain any injuries against Manly? Bar bottle throwing injuries
