🤖 Thread Summary

The Warriors' victory over the Roosters is being celebrated by fans in this forum, with much discussion focusing on the team's "grind" and defensive effort that reminded some of the 2023 season. Several contributors highlighted individual performances, such as Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad's CNK impressive running game and the impact of young players like Ali Leiataua and Leka Halasima, Boats n Hoes #154773 suggesting Leka was man of the match. The improved bench and the energy the young players brought to the team are considered key factors in the win, Canonball #154789 pointing to a play highlighting the "yung bloods." There are varying perspectives on the halves pairing, with some criticizing their attack and others praising their improvements and potential, MrFrankWhite #154802 noted CHT is improving.

A significant part of the discussion revolves around the contributions of specific players, particularly the forward pack. MrFrankWhite #154892 provided detailed running meter statistics, praising CNK's "godlike" performance and Clark's consistent impact, while noting Capewell and Marata's relatively weaker contributions. The contributions of Leka were a hot topic; Wrighty #155017 highlighting Capewell's post-match quote, "It will be scary if Ali Leiataua discovers how good he can be," suggesting Leka could have a very high ceiling. The impact Fish had on defense was mentioned, Makasene #154978 said the impact Fish had on defense was big.

Concerns were also raised regarding the team's attacking shape and the performance of certain players. However, the overall sentiment remains positive, with many expressing excitement about the team's potential and the resurgence of their home ground advantage, while still noting the inexperience in the halves pairing and the need for continued improvement in attack, as pointed out by several posters. Boats n Hoes #155113 noted the team's strong performance towards the end highlighted their growth, stating "Saw towards the end Ali got swamped by 4 defenders and went backwards in our own half, Leka took the next hit up and blew them apart 😂 This is how top teams do it". Recently, Wahs_Ultras #15707 shared a breakdown of the game, noting that the team was deadly within the opposition's 10m line. I said it before the season started and got laughed at. We have the toughest pack in the NRL
Marata - Jake the Muss
Fish - One scary fucker
Barnett - Considered to be an enforcer and nearly lost his career at the Knights for elbowing some poor Kent in the face because Barnett just "felt like it".
On the top of that we have the hombre twins Vaimauga and Halasema who like it rough.

The only "nice guys" in our forward pack are Capewell and Ford.
They got belted in round one.

Rounds two and three, they stood their ground

I don't mind healthy debate as long as it is positive and looking ahead to the future (I wonder if AW has a little look at this forum from time to time as we should be seen to be supporting him; this might apply to some players as well so be careful what you post)
I hope not. Last thing any sports orginazation's staff needs is to look into fan comments, outside of the ones in the marketing department.

The Dally M's really seem to favour the marquee stars of the NRL (the Australian ones that is)
Tedesco was decent - but hit the ball dead with his nuts and got out jumped by CHT. Those are pretty decisive moments.
On multiple occasions judges have been found out to not actually watch the games. They will have seen it was relatively close, and Teddy had OK stats, so he probably had a good game - throw him a point.

I'm not suer if I've mentioned it previously, however the upcoming game vs the Storm away could be a real test as to how this year will go. We've not beaten them for ages and a win would be the get one off the monkeys back

I honestly think people are missing the forest for the trees here, I get all the concern over attack, I would like to flog teams by 30 plus aswell. But at the end of the day we are winning and nicely too. Let the halfs learn and back out defence to allow them to we need to go back to the 2023 defence that we built that season off.

So true, after watching the Roosters post thirty eight points over the Panthers the week before, I think most of us would have given up takeaway night for a win if the footy gods so offered (hell some on here would sacrifice their childrens pet guinea pig).

I keep going back to two things about this win.

One is Trent Robinsons smugness that they have a Warriors template.

Two is thinking of the many many times we have defended valiantly against a top NRL team and surprised everybody....yet land on the wrong side of a respectable 14 -6 pointer.

Spencer Leniu was pretty dynamic.

He had 7 tackle breaks but there were 7 forwards from both teams who made more run meters than him, with others imo having much more impact on the game than he did. Whyte had more meters and tackles and scored a try...I dunno it just shits me when we're duped like that.

Perhaps like some of the ref’ing it shows that former players have crap judgement

They will be down on troops with Meaney (goalkicker) out with a broken jaw and probably Hughes with a busted hand

The Dally M system has been broken for a while.

IMO it must move to the old Rugby League Week system - every player on the field rated out of 10. Over the course of the season you will find a much fairer winner

It will be a good benchmark, however they'll have too much speed for us and I'd be surprised if we weren't beaten by 30.
