Ye fair, but we had more than enough possession in their 20 to win that game. Including 2 back to back sets on their line with a man down at the end their. I thought a lot of egans passing choices in their opposition 20 was pretty bad especially our last play of the game on the 5th throws a nothing ball to Leka which was behind him and he drops it.
We also seem to be slipping back into that habit of when we’re in the grind we’re just running one outs, set after set in slow motion, there’s no offloads no players in motion.
I might be over reacting a bit but hopefully we continue our good run of form and build on it.

Don’t know if I agree about the youth thing tho, we’re still one of the oldest teams in the comp even with Leka, Demi, Laban there.
And with youth they bring energy and aggression and we were outdone in that one.
And On the other hand Raiders are one of the youngest.
I just think our squad is abit unbalanced, especially in the backs old and slow
We never looked like scoring a try on attack
Side to side gets u nowhere
Raiders full of young guys having a go on attack
We don’t want to rely on Metcalf having to win games all the time
Otherwise it’s another SJ era
Sure we got to give guys time
But how long?
😵

Tough game - I'll take a gritty 6 point loss against a fellow top 4 side, but the fact the difference was them scoring (and us not scoring) during a sinbin period where we had the one man advantage is a bit worrying.

Hope we bounce back straight away and don't take the Rabbitohs (or another wily old coach) lightly.

Still waiting for that glorious moment we finally put two halves together for a total annihilation of another team 🙏

Is it my eyes or does Metcalf do more of the general kicking in the first half, and then CHT takes the majority of the general kicking in the second half? i wonder if this is part of the gameplan to enable Luke to be more of a threat with the ball in hand and run more in the second half against tiring defences.

Not sure if it was put up elsewhere but I like (or, I don't like? lol) the image they used for the article yesterday

99% sure this was from his run on 4th tackle at the end of the game..

S***, how much time left in the game? Should have stayed down and get another sin bin.

That's 2 incidents where our inexperienced players didn't stay down for legit high contacts, Leka could have stayed down to get a penalty at that crucial moment.

Like a minute and change if I recall?

I stormed off after Metcalf played the ball and only came back to the TV when Tamale was mouthing off, so a bit of a blur haha

He needs to stop getting caught on 4th tackles but can't begrudge him, this time at least, for taking the half chance that was there, especially when it should have drawn a penalty

While its disappointing to lose, I'm quite glad they didn't in a way. After watching the ludicrous antics in the Auckland FC v Melbourne game the night before I'd hate for the NRL to fall into those types of theatrics. It's a tricky balance.

A sin
Chip thru son
Chip overtop son
Anything
But don’t die on 5th tackle
With ball
🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

Kemp said (paraphrasing) we could have won against a very good raiders team and the halves forgot to do the inside balls up the middle in those conditions and opted wide, the raiders did stay straight and scored their tries, on a dry track we get them

I thought we should have tried the inside ball to a runner cutting back against the grain like Curran was good at.
Hopefully we learn from this

Have the Raiders fans always been insufferable? They seem extra spicy after this game
matching the team on the day. not one single report about their lads carrying on like proper twats after (and during) the game. A bit of a difference to the angst at Tigers OTT celebrations a year or 2 back. Sticky ran interference on their attitude pretty effectively in the media and positioned it as a good thing. I can see why his players like him as much as everyone else loathes him..

Noticed that in the presser Ricky getting on the front foot unprompted - was very smart, think he knew they took it a bit far and flavoured the narrative re:any post game sanctions.
Have also seen a POV that the fact that they got so fired up for our game should be taken as a compliment

I think some team members were genuinely surprised at the initial way they started to get so aggressive-particularly CNK. Initially it was Tapine on CNK close to the line where he was penalised and began to play up. With CNK a Kiwis teammate with Tapine and ex club teammate, he looked shocked at how Tapine was giving it out. As well as giving it to the crowd, Tamale was vocal at DWZ on the field all game from opposing sides. Think it was a good lesson for us that this is what’s needed to take the next step and there’s no mates on the field if you’re on opposing sides, I’d like to see us lead with actions though
