The sun did rise, but it was that wee bit harder facing the day knowing we are gone from finals! the truly sad part of this realisation is how did we get here....On the back of a great previous year, belief in our coach, recruitment looked on point, draw looked favourable, external noise was pro Warriors, National support for the Warriors at an all time high, sold out crowd for a FULL season, so how, how, how the fuck do we end up crumbling so meekly!!! 2 steps forward with 18 steps back, it is almost impossible to land where we are, regrettably no corner turned, no upward spiral, no fucking nothing!!!

Love you Warriors, but please give us some consistency and dare I ask, Glory, for fuck sake it is now coming up 30 years next year...

30 fucking years?!!!!!!!! 🤷🏻‍♂️
Ugh.
Let that sink in….

Have to question Webby starting with Lussick when our prime attacking ball always seems to be early, need to have Egan on to take advantage of that.
Yes and Egan - even though he doesn't look like it - is a more consistent defender. Every time Lussick starts we are down 10 -12 points in the first twenty minutes. Lussick needs to be a later in the game rotation.

And who fucking cares.

Anyone who’s followed this team for a while isn’t surprised right now. Yeah I’m the grumpy fan who scoffs at all these people jumping on the wagon when the vibes are high and we’re winning.

Soon as shit hits the fan they fuck off, and it’s all jokes about the team, “oh keep the faith, nek year is our year” and all the BS.

So many posts about “oh that’s not fair to the fans who sold out Mt Smart!” Well guess what - it was their fucking choice to get over excited after 1 outlier season out of the last 5-6years. Their choice to jump on the wagon and follow the crowd and social media trends like sheep.

I’m not worried about the die hard that frequent Mt Smart year after year either. They know the game, they never fold.

Everyone else, don’t let the door hit your arse on the way out.
It's sounds like your annoyed?

Further to the point about Egan not starting this week in favour of Lussick,
We only had one members of our spine stay intact from last week. Our starting hooker, fullback and stand off were changed. It was too much change and the Lussick one was not forced. Getting too cute with the changes.
When I became a cricket captain I got too cute with it a few times by promoting number 8 up to open the batting etc and it doesn't work. Lussick actually looked ok except in the red zone execution where we badly missed Egan.

Anyway as long as Webster is actually learning.
I didn't like his presser either Beastmode. He doesn't take any accountability himself for the lose and threw the players under the bus saying they had "dropped their bundle". That is an australian expression by the way. No Kiwi uses that expression.
When Ricky Stuart loses he either blames the refs or accepts the loss on himself. What he could have done differently or what actions steps he will be doing next but he takes accountability quite often.

Im fast becoming a Ricky Stuart fan. The way he backed his young guys this season, plus his ability to articulate the issue as he sees it, rather than bland generic bullshit

Agree. A lot of this bullshit play falls on Websters shoulders entirely.
His attack plan is pathetic.
If he can't learn then best he fucks off(and takes Stacey with him)

He will learn. I hope so anyway.

One thing I just want to get off my chest though is that our tactics as extremely dumb whenever we get an attack set 40 metres out. Instead of rumbling it up to get into the red zone and then running shapes to score we have dumb tactic instead. When we get a fresh set of six from a knock on or penalty 40 metres out we fuck around running our halve sideways across the field running fancy hand offs and late passes at the advantage line. The opposition team isn't fooled by any of the sleight of hand and we only gain 3 metres go forward each tackie. By the 5th tackle we just make it into the opposition twenty and there is not enough tackles to really do anything to score.

At the start of the season, Webby made some statements about our attack. He said that "teams will know what is coming, but wont be able to defend it" He claimed that our attack would be so sharp that even if it was obvious, it would be unstoppable.
Well, I think he has fucked that part up. He has made it obvious and stoppable.
He also always talked about the 3 things that win games. And looking at stats, we are dominating in many categories that should be winning games.
Webby has done a fairly good job of coaching, but this season has been very unlucky. So many injuries and team changes.
I hope he can see what has gone wrong this year and make the correct adjustments!

This season has been horrific.

What we all need is perspective.

We watch this team for about 2hrs each week. There are 24*7=168 hrs in the week.

2/168=1%

That’s right. We only witness
1% of their lives as professionals

As much as I want Webby to own this mess I am sure theres a shit load of off field drama happening that he can’t control. AFB’s personal issues, Walkers breakup with his partner - all of this affects the team spirit. The 99% of what these guys are doing or not doing needs to be challenged.

Coach W has not radically changed the game plan that got us to top 4 last year. Its also the same team essentially. Some argue we levelled up with the recruitment of RTS, Caps and CHT.

As they say, a happy wife is a happy life. I reckon there’s a ton of off field drama we as fans know nothing about. And this is the reason we have failed so miserably this season… the 99 %…

Perspective.

True mate and I have read a lot of posts about what was right and what was wrong by while concerned fans who actually are only guessing and don't understand the complexities of coaching an NRL team.
Only time will provide the experience

The mental capitulation of this team tells me there’s sometime seriously wrong off field. I honestly believe raising a family and kids is a real distraction on a players life. No different to everyone else. Not saying this is the reason though.

When I was young and single. No obligations or responsibilities I could just focus on work. I could work like a savage. 3-4am in the morning if needed.

Once I met the wife and had kids. I got “soft”. My priorities changed. It was no longer about work. It was about getting off work as soon as possible to go tend to the family. Work was not #1. No different in sports

Who wants to train in their spare time when they have family commitments. Even when you’re single. Who wants to train when you could be doing other fun stuff like gaming or mucking around doing podcasts and what not…. No idea what the answer is though.. maybe get in David Goggins to change their habits and level up on their mental toughness … need to figure to out how to tap back into the mental toughness and it all depends on what these boys are doing off field

If we look around at the most successful coaches, Bellamy, Bennett, Stuart, they have shitloads of experience.
AW is a learner and can only improve
I am impressed with all us fans for seeing the big picture and writing this season off as a learning experience and investment in Webster. If Webster was like Nathan Brown and had ten years experience behind him then we would not be being so patient. But this is perfectly obvious - he is a highly talented and gifted coach but he is new and learning on the job.
He is going to get us a premiership mark my words.

If it happens under Webster it will be in the 2020s

Which it will

So if we can keep you eating your porridge every morning until 2029 your eyes will live to see the promised land.
