That was the Titans grand final -however they may decide to repeat when we swan over to Robina in a few weeks. While we have certainly been below our best this last 5 weeks or so, I don't think it's panic stations just yet.
We lost to Penny, who have won 7 on the trot.
Broncos at Suncorp are always challenging.
We got away with one that we should have lost against the Knights.
Titans rolling us at home.
All 4 games we have certainly been well below our best, which is to be expected after losing a few key players. But we've still made these teams have to work hard for their victories.
Both Knights and Titans played some of their best footy against us, completing at a higher percentage than they usually do, along with less errors and penalties. We, alternatively we're poorer than we usually are, having less possession, more errors and more penalties.
We fix up those areas and I reckon we're not too far off getting back on track
TMM has been on the bench with the NRL side consistently since Round 10 - Boyd has partnered Hanson 8 times and TMM 5 (last time was Round 9).Be nice to see it the other way round. That way TM can play 6 since he has partnered Boyd the most this season.
The worrying thing, which has been the case all season, is our attack hasn't been great - even when we had all the stats going for us and dominating other teams in the earlier rounds. Barnett dropping out has been the biggest loss and now are struggling even more without that forward dominance. We lost at home to the Panthers C team, at home to the last placed Titans B team, lucky against the knights, an ok win against a weak tigers. That was the Titans grand final -however they may decide to repeat when we swan over to Robina in a few weeks.
We need fine tuning --game plan -selection- rotation-performance- rest injured players.
I disagree. At current health, we don't have the forward pack, spine or outside backs to give the competition a good shake in my opinion.I can guarantee that's not Websters thinking. We have the players available to actually give the competition a good shake but they need to be selected in the right positions and given freedom to deviate from the robotic play. I believe we could make the grand final if we were less conservative in this regard but as much as some things appear to have changed the more they have stayed same. Still the same fundamental issues from the previous couple of seasons and in to this one, effort is certainly more consistent now than under other coaches we have had. Need to add some balance to our style of play
This is the only part I disagree on. I dont think this year was ever on the cards for winning the comp. Never say never of course, but I dont think the core playing group incl Metcalf could have handled the mental aspect. Some talk from posters saying this is a rebuilding year and we aren't aiming to win it this season. I can guarantee that's not Websters thinking.
Feel like our season has been built off a grinding style that relies on a strong defensive showing. Our resilience to pick up wins that last season were losses is growth in itself. I’m seeing Cleary promoted as very interesting and wondering if Boyd has limited time to impress?I disagree. At current health, we don't have the forward pack, spine or outside backs to give the competition a good shake in my opinion.
I honestly think we do have the cattle but it would take a shift from our current game plan which, let's face it, isn't going to happen. We are in an amazing position that could allow us to treat the remaining games and finals as a limited season within itself. Think the middle of last season where it didn't look like we would win another game but went on a run of 6 from 8 (from memory) that's the type of change we need to see now. The players we have available now are better than then IMOI disagree. At current health, we don't have the forward pack, spine or outside backs to give the competition a good shake in my opinion.
Possibly, but you wouldn't pass up the opportunity by not giving it a red hot crack while we have it. My concern is we might not get it next season, particularly if we don't improve our attack. This is the only part I disagree on. I dont think this year was ever on the cards for winning the comp. I think we'll see Healey & Fatialofa at back end of this year and see them introduced at the start of next. Also think we'll see Demi, Laban, Leka as a core back row next year.Possibly, but you wouldn't pass up the opportunity by not giving it a red hot crack while we have it. We are 4th on the ladder so our attack can't be that badI honestly think we do have the cattle but it would take a shift from our current game plan which, let's face it, isn't going to happen. (next season would be a write off too then if this is the case this season with the team make up as I don't see any significant changes in personal coming)

I'm not knocking Kurt; he is playing out of position and busted. Origin did him no favors either - played exceptionally well particularly on defenceLuke Capewell making an appearance! That’s a blast from the past. Yes, we will definitely struggle if he makes an appearance
