This list is odd ... a lot of middling and inconsistent performances in there, albeit good players... it's hard to think of any standouts across the entire season really, except for Hughes and (arguably) Fonua-Blake... who would you give the Lock award to for instance? at different points in the season all those three were playing way below their best

A Storm Panthers grand final is pretty meh, but overall it's been a better season than other recent ones results wise - our win over the Panthers in Magic Round and the Dragons win in Melbourne just a couple of examples of the unpredictibility. Perhaps with less standouts in team performances and closer results overall it's been a bit of a leveler for individual performances too?

I think a number of players spending time on the sideline injured and/or suspended has limited standout individual performances over the season as well.

For me, this has been a difficult season to pick winners consistently so quite an unpredictable one despite Storm and Panthers still finishing 1 and 2

yeah, no idea how he's not in there ... was the most menacing player full stop for the last third of the season ... i do think a lot of long term injuries to key players across the comp meant it was difficult for many teams to build something, cleary being the most obvious example, and there were also a number of very good rookie prospects coming through ... it's a bit of a joke when Kiraz is named in the top echelon of wingers - don't get me wrong, good energy etc. and can finish but he's hardly a proper contender for best in position.

The first award has been unveiled, with Xavier Coates' spectacular match-winning try in Melbourne's Round 2 victory over the Warriors named the Peter Frilingos Headline Moment of the Year.

The winger produced an acrobatic finish to dive for the corner and score a stunning 79th-minute try.
