Can we discuss DWZ’s cloak hanger of a tackle that got him sent for 10?

For all his beautiful acrobatic tries which I love, his defence and reads is still absolutely shocking.

The whole reach out with the arm and grab is another example of his inability to read a simple 2:1 defence.

Too busy worrying about getting beat on the outside then realises he’s overcompensated to instinctively reach out his arm for a shirt grab. It’s really ameturish defending.

At that moment I knew we’d lost the game.

Is the game on defence really that hard to read? Is it going too fast for him to decide the spacing whether slide vs coming in????

Also dropped a fairly straightforward catch from which the Storm scored sooner after at the start of the game.

Unfortunately these were two pivot moments that contributed to our lost.

The Storm know our wingers out wide cant defend and they exploited that weakness beautifully
I think as an individual, there would come a breaking point where the decisions of the ref, may it be fair or unfair would affect the performance of that individual. For example, when Montoya got sinned binned. That I would say was out of sheer frustration. Maybe, you could say the same for DWZ? Mans has his flaws like every other player but I back his defense. His many years of experience should suffice however, against a team such as the Storm (their speed on offense is something else), you gotta write it down as another lesson to learn.

This one still hits pretty hard, for the first time in ages I was actually pretty confident against the storm- particularly after the first 20mins.
Unfortunately we got shown up as still being quite far off the pace. It’s almost becoming a problem getting early dominance as refs even it up pretty quickly

Yeah bro it's unfortunate but until we roll them every game will need our emotional involvement.

As for being off the pace we can't outpace anyone if our starters burn out and our subs don't up the pace. Our leaky block where we were porous and weak in defence needed mental toughness to keep us connected on D. Discipline went missing at important times aye. I like early dominance over leaking points early but even more than that I like complete dominance from go to whoa. We aren't there yet and it's frustrating

The replay suggested otherwise. He may have let go of it but MM definitely had a stripping motion and ended up with the ball. Was a fair penalty imo.
But then the dodo just stood there holding the ball until Hughes grabbed it off him and took the quick tap. If MM throws the fuckin thing away and there is no quick tap!

He should have held onto the ball and have a cat fight with Hughes, that’s why you never give the ball away nicely especially to a dirty team like the Storm

I suspected we would lose two days before the match. Egan was interviewed and said
"This match against the storm is a good chance to measure ourselves and see where we are at:"

Our players look up to the Storm and it showed at certain points in the game. We had lost the match before it started.

If that is the case explain how we got out to a 14 point lead.

Blind Freddy can see what turned the game and he wasn’t wearing either a Warriors or a Storm jersey!

Adam Blair did a snakey move by standing in the tunnel along with the other Ex Storm champions to clap Melbourne on to the field as they ran on to the field.
Why would Adam agree to do that as an ex warrior knowing the move was designed to give the Storm players confidence away from home.
Benedict Arnold Move. Hope the warriors never hire him now.

Relax, he played nearly twice as many games for the Storm than for us.

Yes we have Noah, Moses, and a few other ancients. Development is our strength but not our now
[/QUOTE]
😂 Just wondering...Are any of the development able to do 32 tackles in 44mins (average of 1 tackle per 1.3 minutes) as well as 14 carries for 100m?
Dang, forgot...Moses is meant to slide or glide (or whatever) and cover the edges as well. Sack him!

No. I will never forget that. He is true heart is not as a Warrior. Snakey move. He should have declined
"Sorry Craig happy to do that for any team except against the Warriors as I am a commentator to the NZ audience for Sky NZ and it will compromise my relationship with the audience."

Tony Martin was there too, if they shouted up the wahs would that cause Storm to have a meltdown? Actually they got creamed for the opening 20 minutes, maybe Blair and co did their jobs for us? 😂🤷‍♂️

Does anyone know when they made that headscratching late call on TMMs tackle whether the time was added back on the clock?

1) Sutton needs to have his passport seized and remain incarcerated here as an international terrorist - absolute criminal. The challenge system kept him in check for a while but he wouldn't let that stop him.

2) they still could have defended that lead if the backs (not charnze, he was good) could tackle or catch a kick, forwards were doing a fine job, everytime they went wide seemed to be a line break and a try.

3) Shaun's kicking was dreadful when there was still a chance just lobbing them into the corner with no chance of a contest

4) I really enjoy Mt smart, it ticks a lot of boxes as a facility just being able to circle the ground and hang out before the game and well provisioned with drink stations no lines. Was amazed to see the south stand basically full half an hour before kick off. Upper East stand this time, great viewing position. Auckland transport need some more goddam signage at Penrose station, the train going north is platform 3, great which platform would that be again?

All he did was a Benedict Cumberbatch move and teleported himself from the Sky commentary team and back Dr Strange style.

I'm writing this mostly as a sort of therapy for myself...
Ive just watched replay after being at the game. Left the game spewing at the ref (sorry people sitting around me!). After a sleep and rewatch, think the Storm were lucky with a few of calls while the Warriors were unlucky and injuries. Storm don't need the luck though.
Does feel like the old NBA Jam "auto-catch up" soon as the Warriors get an early lead...
A few Warriors played below their usual standards, but that will happen when you are playing team sitting top of the table. Think the Johnson/Martin combo will benefit from playing against teams like Titans. Thought some of our forwards got over top of their.
Storm have Warriors kryptonite: speed. Made worse with Berry off then Walker looking hurt after being tackled. Storm's speed has been the deciding factor over the decades of match ups I've seen.
TLDR: They were lucky. Ball didn't bounce Warriors way including on the injury front. Looking forward to seeing the team dishing it out to the Titans next weekend.
