He was fit last year and the RHS shape we were running was so crisp that his runs were far more effective. As opposition teams had to either commit players to him where SJ would then play out the back, or they would fan and SJ would hit Niukore flat.I might sound pretty negative but Nikoure is one player I want shopped to other clubs.
No fault of his own with the injuries that have plagued his time here.
But he has been so underwhelming for mine, errors, running at players not gaps etc.
We could use his salary a lot more on the open market or Webby needs to whip him into shape.
He was beefed up and trained the whole pre-season as a bench middle. We saw how effective that could be in the trials when he was fit and rampaging. He then does his foot injury and misses 10 or so weeks. Ford and Capewell were completely ineffective during that time, so when he returned Webby put him back on that edge. Problem being he'd been off for 10 weeks not running with a foot injury, and was already heavier given he was supposed to be a middle in 2024. It didn't help that the RHS attack was now completely ineffective and all we were doing was spamming short balls to him every set on the line.
So while his pay packet is a bit large(800k I think is the media report?), and it's been a dissapointing season for him which I personally feel the coaching staff have a bit to cop for also. I still think he has a fair amount of value as an aggresive mobile middle in 2025. Webby needs to be using Leka/Laban on the edge though, and Marata as a last* resort if they plan to keep him beefed up as they did for this season.
