Best they could come up with was
Toby Sexton and Sam Walker
Cupboard is bare
The Titans will prob let Tanah Boyd go but he hasn’t delivered on potential yet he is easily put off his game but who knows he might develop

Sj is like Reynolds just trying to add to their bank accounts but not adding to their team perf
Tmm sometimes looks great then seems to go missing in games

CHT lots of ticker an ok fill in

Metcalf a running stand off

Prob none of our 3 will win us a comp

CCeS will pull some names out of the lower grades

Stacey Jones never won us a comp, Johnson hasn't won us a comp.

As you say, there aren't many options out there.

The champion players haven't delivered for us and some people saying what we have now won't either - which is a pretty weak call considering we haven't won anything previously either. May as well call the next few seasons done now with that attitude.

So we get some or all of the following :

SJ signs for another year and we either get 2023 version or more likely a continuation of the robotic play from this season.

TMM delivered results at 7 but obviously not a polished all rounder. Though an off season of practice there will help.

Metcalf can provide some spark at 6 but unlikely to set up his outsides. Covers goal kicking though.

CHT is solid enough at 6 but the jury is still out on him.

Personally I'm actually leaning towards a TMM/Metcalf pairing. We have to obviously have a structure but rigidly sticking to a robotic plan isn't going to work and has been seen to be fairly easily overcome by opposition this season. This pairing gives us some spark, speed, playmaking and eyes up play . I'd rather lose with this than lose not even trying to play football. And I feel it's more likely to get a result.

Really get the feeling AW is a bit lost without plan A working and will continue trying to force players in to the plan rather than fit a plan around the players

Having not seen too much of Cup and Flegg does anyone think that the young halves have the potential to succeed in FG.

Its a pretty significant change from having the Bald Brothers. Twins in the halves would be unbelievable.

Strangely, I wouldn't be opposed to having one of them or both on the books for cheap as depth. As we have seen, We are light in the halves and injury prone with nothing of note really out there on the market. Not that they are wanting to be back here though.

Zero Tackle, one never shy of printing an unsubstantiated rumour, did post an article that outlined with facts iver the weekend!
It’s hard to write, but we have won more games this season without SJ in the lineup than with him.
For the moment it looks like a TMM / Metcalf combo for next season at least, with a CHT on the bench.
The romantic in me would love to see Taine Tuaupiki given a shot in the halves, but that’s a big transition, one that possibly needs to happen if we are going to keep him at the club long term.

Why not just start him at Fullback? Our current Fullbacks love to get us meters but just offer nothing on attack. Look at the Cowboys with Drinkwater or the Storm with Papenhuyzen. Both are sometime 5th tackle kicking options along with their ability to link on attack.

AFB, Jazz and who ever else is leaving can rest up or warm the bench. Let the young fellas start then assess what needs to be worked on preseason to get up to 1st grade standard..

I blame him for most of it. Watching the bulldogs v Broncs last week.. what a game, enthusiasm and energy main drivers.. boys having fun, defending like demons.

Yup, our best games this year have had this in spades. Knowing why that has occurred in some games (and how to replicate that) and not others (and how to put that in the bin) will go a long way to sorting us out for next year.

And that's probably mostly off-field stuff that we aren't privy to as mere fans on the sideline.
