Thing is every single centre has this year, including the debutante that everyone is high on and rog who some want as kiwis centre. Can't win around here
I would say centre is the hardest position to defend at everyone is getting done cause he effort hasn’t been there this year, and Rocco probably has gotten it the worse capewell and SJ have both looked slow (mostly due to injury I think) and has put him in the toughest spot

A week early but worth discussing in here - RTS is expected back alongside SJ for the next match against the Storm.

I think RTS at Centre is worth persisting with but strongly feel he must take Berry's right centre spot.

Big game for Berry this week - can he show something that would suggest it is better to keep him than Pompey...

Would be surprised if Webster moves Berry, or moves RTS from left centre.

Im not sure of the Berry hate. Sure Pompey has done well when coming in, but im sure hed be copping as much heat if not more had he been in the starting team when we had those losses.

We just lack star strike power in the centres. If Berry and RTS are not the answer, neither is Pompey. Ali has potential, i just dislike some of his defensive efforts.

I just think Pompey is solid. Never amazing but never very poor. We have had so many plain jane centres over the years that we are all over it. Seeing other teams have real strike power in that position makes it even more frustrating.

No hate, just cold hard selection decisions needed - all across the park really.

Pompey is the best left centre in the club. For me RTS is either going to left wing or right centre.

Chanze?

Pompey > Berry

RTS 1 CNK 3 or vise versa for the x-factors

Pompey started vs Knights before the team form slump, and copped a loss vs Roosters before the miracle fortnight. Dude just offers more running meters and won’t get run over 1 on 1

anyone can focus on kick/chase if given the task

Berry is the one fighting for his position, and maybe Monty, because Webby is not gonna drop RTS for Berry and Pompey has formed a nice partnership with Monty again. This game might be a trial to see what he can offer again, if it’s the same old it’s over, he needs to make basic tackles, make meters on carries and take some attacking bombs or pat them back to have a shot

I have read all the comments about Tohu and I get it, man is on borrowed time with those knees I suspect.

But he is a talisman for the younger guys, someone the team looks up to. That has got to count for something. I hope he regains his form and starts killing it. The dude deserves every accolade and to go out on a high in his own time.

I agree but for me I would have RTS on the left wing. Leave him there to develop a strong combination with Pompey. Moving RTS to right centre won’t help with combinations and confidence. Berry’s attack is a little weak but on the whole he is a very good defender chases kicks better than almost everyone and is a great passer - take for example the number of tries Dallin scored last year due to the good timing and accuracy of his pass. Montoya is a difficult one to drop because he is very competitive works hard and looks like a great teammate but for me who would add more value him or a roaming RTS.

Interesting discussion this week. A lot of nervousness and negativity.

When I reflect on the first half of the season, I see the coaching staff trying a few things in order to problem solve. We had a busted team for most of it - SJ playing on one leg, Capes pretty much banged up from the first tackle of the season and Egan has not been right with that elbow. Marata being out, I think, totally messed up our plans for the start of the year.

So we overplayed some of our senior guys, our rotations were messed up and frankly we didn’t ice a couple of games we should have. Storm and Titans being the two standouts. Yet here we are, still in the fight.

The talk about Tohu is premature. He is not 21 anymore but he is a seasoned professional who is the heart and soul of this club. He’s been busted too but bravely hung in for as long as he could. I don’t think it was a finger injury - I reckon it was something worse that they needed to rehab.

What we have had tested is our depth - and we changed tack as we were forced to the last two matches. We’ve learned we can play a different style and get the chocolates.

Don’t expect we go back to the game we played prior to the Panthers. No… its evolution baby as Pearl Jam put it. I expect now with a forward pack that provides us heaps of rotation options that we will see our guys dominate most teams through the middle. I see Capewell finding his feet because he isn’t needing to tackle himself to death. I also see less need for players to go 70 minutes plus. We can be smarter with our combinations.

My instincts tell me we will win this match against the Cows well this weekend. They aimed up last week against the chooks, but you can’t tell me that beating Payten at their place isn’t a motivating factor for these boys. Expect us to target Vailea all day if he plays.

Those questions by RTS and Rocco. I reckon you’ll see a break out performance at centre for RTS when he returns - once again, more left side plays coupled with forward dominance equals more space for him to move. We must persevere.

I’m expecting Pompey to put on a show because he knows his position is under threat with RTS coming back. I welcome that - much like how Montoya responded the last two games.

Jazz is playing for a contract so expect him to play great again. Tohu plays more middle thIs week after minute 15 with Walks playing 13 for at least 65 min to support TMM and CHT.

Mitch will also play out of his skin - a week in đź’™ Mighty NSW Camp will have him buzzing and he is playing for a starting spot for origin 2.

My question for you sir, is that Webby would have had clear plan for this year, and while we had a few injuries at the beginning of the year, at times we looked fantastic in those first 4 games.
Then we ended up having even more injuries and a few with form slump, we started to go south very quickly.

Now that we will have the majority of our team to select from, does Webby revert back to his original plan or try to improve on the here and now?

For me, I'd like to see him give his master plan one more shot before making any significant decisions, however I do feel that one minor tweek you mentioned could work - RTS to left wing with Pompey centre. This essentially gets you improvement in both sports as RTS>Montoya and Pompey>RTS in centre currently

Warriors by 10, they can’t tackle and don’t have a hooker unless Robson (played 80, thanks Madge) backs up.

The roosters were rolling them through the middle last week then bungled all their attacking chances, let in some soft tries.

They will keep testing the edges thru drinkwanker so it is a big game for the center paring.

Dry track suits Egan and walker etc

Plan has changed already hasn't it?

- AFB playing wide vs Panthers
- Niukore back to edge
- Barnett to edge
- Ford to middle

Montoya we believe was dropped for RTS who then did his hammy. Big question really is whether that happens again.
