🤖 Thread Summary

The Warriors' performance in their Round 1 match against the Raiders has sparked significant discussion regarding team composition, coaching decisions, and overall strategy. Following the loss, Tohu’Tohu’s_Knees #147967 expressed concerns about the team's direction, questioning where they go from here, Riz #147968 called for the inclusion of younger players. Zaggo #147969 critiqued specific player performances, including Niukore and Ford, and highlighted issues with bench usage. Many fans expressed disappointment and embarrassment, especially for those who traveled to Las Vegas for the game, 1995warriorsfan #148003. The team's defense, attack, and bench utilization were common areas of concern, Christchurch_Warrior #147973's succinct summary of needed improvements.

Recent discussions heavily revolve around coach Andrew Webster's selections and game plan. Several posters, including Kaos A. D.^148256 and Waz's Up #137, criticized Webster's decision to start Ford over Clark and his overall bench management, arguing it contributed to the loss. There's a sentiment that Webster favors "worker" type players over those with "X factor," limiting the team's attacking potential, Wahs Up TV #148469. Many believe the team is too reliant on older players and needs to integrate younger talent such as Leiataua, Vaimauga, and Halasima, Warriorsfan92 #148376's analysis of player stats.

Concerns have also emerged regarding the team's culture and preparation, with ##robbiemears #148583 pointing to reports of players out late before the game and the ongoing situation with Agar. Despite the negativity, some advocate for patience and giving Webster time to adjust, noting it's only the first round and that the team needs to focus on winning the next game, The Undertaker #148605. However, there's a growing sentiment that major changes are needed, with some suggesting that Webster's job may be on the line if the team doesn't improve, highlighting an underlying tension between supporting the coach and demanding better performance.

Remember when Addin and Mitch would get us into the kill zone and we would fire blanks?

Today, by the time we got close enough to fire, we were gassed from tackling their pack. Their pack were fearsome and ours was meek and disjointed.

We need a cohesion amongst our pack.

To get that. Start Demetric and Leka and Clark.

That's a pack

Who would you start as our pack to gain that middle dominance?
Its not just a starting pack, its the game plan. Sticky figured us out beautifully; thats why the Raiders spent the 1st 20 dropping the ball underneath, moving our fowards and back row around tiring them out.

Our forwards are small and mobile and our back row is big and slow.

Gotta do something after todays crap performance Frank.
It all starts up front & always has.Our biggest asset was supposed to be upfront & that failed.
Also think RTS has to be the FB. We obviously lack talent in the outside backs.Have we anyone worthy of a crack on the wing?
Unfortunately our roster is shit & our youngsters are not be a fair go.

Fish won't be benched but you got some good elements in there, including more speed, threat and size.

Tough watch. A couple of lucky tries from Canberra, a couple begging from us which would have flattered the score line a little more.

Feels like raiders had a plan and got away with it (pushing up in the line, slowing down ruck excessively, pushing up off the mark hard) and I don’t think they get away with any of that vs a team like Cronulla who will shred your edges if you do that, or a storm/manly/penrith who will just pepper the ball behind your line all day.

Anyway, Vegas is silly. Hope we can bounce back, we’ve got some weird combinations at the moment. Struggling to find a place for CNK in my team at this rate
I was thinking that as I was watching it too. That they were lying down alot longer than we were. Same with their line speed. And no offside penalties
I like the backline. I would go that but with Healey at 14 and Walker 17. CHT is so difficult, he offers so much promise but I believe his best position is 14, however I think Healey adds more spark on attack. So CHT for me is now our second best 14.
I like Healey at 14 however if our forwards aren't going forward it slows his running game which is his best attribute.

I think Sio Kali could be him. Looks big with some speed too. Compared to Tuaupiki who I would put at the back. Where he belongs.
