Haven't seen it mentioned since but I think 2 or 3 weeks ago we were listed as having the most injuries.

I've been trying to find the stats on this. Generally those reddit nerds get a good tally somewhere, but I think they post at the end of the season.

Watching other games there are attacking threats that have 10+ tries this season. Typically a barnstorming or super fast second rower; fullback, lock or centre.

They can bust a line and both score points and become a defensive focus opening holes around them.

Our superstars:
Fullback - CNK 4 tries
2nd row - Marata 1 try; Ford 3 tries; Capewell 2 tries;
Lock - Tohu 0 tries; Walker 1 try
Centres - Berry 4 tries; Pompey 2 tries; RTS 4 tries.

Telling our x-factor attacking threat is AFB with 8 tries - almost as much as all our centres combined!! Is this exceptional? There are over 40 players with 8+ tries in the NRL…

DWZ is our leading try scorer with 10 but I think this highlights our attacking averageness all season where nobody in key attacking positions have found attacking form and our set plays haven’t put people in holes.

That is a horrible return for our second row. Marata should be a weapon if we can get the structure and timing around him. This all used to be SJ's lifeblood.

1 try from the second row every 3 games....holy hell.

We were playing with centres who have only a few first grade games under their belt, Ed (who I thought played ok) on the wing and RTS who can't distribute when joining the backline. So, probably only DWZ as first pick in his position. Little wonder we looked clunky but still had some good moments. On to the Eels next week also Friday night game. Has the club requested this time slot? It's not a great time for us to play IMO
A bit of "What suits the club" and "What suits the broadcasters" is what decides the scheduling of games, I think. So, with the Warriors, not many Aussies care that much so we get lumped with the 6PM Australia slot and given this year's crowds, the club can hardly say "Look, this really doesn't suit the fanbase or club"!
The Cowboys rarely (if ever) play Thursdays/Fridays in Townsville. That's partly to allow Cowboys fans time to get to Townsville and get back to wherever in Queensland they live (a several hour drive both ways).

And some people think the earth is flat, when playing fullback what is this attack that RTS has been stifling?

He should have been letting the greenius, kodi and CHT cook all those years, that would’ve unlocked things.

RTS and SJ had one (one!) season where they either weren’t at the club or didn’t have a serious injury.
I'm struggling to understand your post. And I'm not taking the piss. Would you mind providing a bit more about the points you're making? Please and thank you

no worries bro, get a bit annoyed over this stuff:

What i mean is, when a team isn't going well, (so every season for the warriors other than 2, for the last 13 years) people are overly critical of the players who do stand out, Mannering is one dimensional, Johnson is flaky, RTS is a ball hog who kills the attack etc. Instead of allowing for the insane burden those players had to carry, typical tall poppy shit, were they always perfect - of course not - but unless you really wanted a wooden spoon added to the collection thats what you would have got without them at various times.

The re-writing of history for roger at the moment, look at the state of those teams, what attacking structure did mooks promote? complete your sets and ah well y'know. Especially once johnson left, they had to desperation buy kodi, just to have someone, anyone, who could spark on occasion - and now he's supposed to be an overrated player? Please. frankly we'd be in danger of losing a couple more games this year without his ability to still play fullback at a high level, even though the coach didn't want him to play there and presumably never trains there when the other two are fit.

Circle back to my 2nd row thesis. Ours is incredibly poor as a combination. Funny thing, I never looked at the Tigers 2nd row before the game. If I had, I may have changed my bet...

Twal

Fucking yikes:oops:

Sorry to say this but RTS really stifles the fluidity and flow of our back line.

He is literally a one man band with no ability to connect with the line and set up moves for the outside backs

Compared to CNK he is the reason are backline is so bad this season. A centre and fullback are key points in the line. The ball stops with him so his best spot is WING. Is he the reason the Warriors have been so poor in the past???????

Happy to debate this will RTS lovers. 😉
Agree, always knew he wasn't a ball player (one of his first games for the roosters, I watched him make a break on the right wing, he scored eventually through his own ability not any ball skills, he was unable to put his man into hole or manipulate the defenders, it was quite obvious to me then of his lack in his game, (as most players just have this knack, ability.), you either have it or you don't. I used to play basketball and then later on touch, outdoor netball, this helped me tremendously playing league as I developed a sense of spatial awareness of where people are when they are in motion and sort of where a runner needs to be to exploit either a hole or gap, ie. putting the ball into that space, where a hole runner should be, so unfortunately our mighty rts is not that kind of player, however all is not lost what he does have more than makes up for this lack. another thing, I Wish they would let him kick for yardage, he was bloody good at for the blues squad last year playing at fullback took all the high kicks on the full and then kicked for good yardage.

"Putting the ball into that space". Yep, that's an issue I often think we have. We pass to where the player is, rather than where the space is. So, Player A's pass goes behind Player B because Player B was in the space but the ball was where he'd been or he wasn't in the space...Don't know which is more bloody annoying as a fan!

I would say the tempo of the attack this year has been really slow and laboured. From Egans distribution to playing through Walker/Tohu, backrowers that dont have tremendous speed and halves who don't execute clinically and outside backs with lack of speed in general. Goal line attack from the get go has been extremely poor and lacking a clinical edge of passing and timing of runs and spacing. I think Webby got lost mid season trying to find answers to our "predictable" attack, he found some momentum in different eyes and hands in TMM but its again kind of fallen into a predictable shape. Maybe sticking to his original plan of doing plan A to perfection is better than having a plan B or C, you can say injuries, other teams figuring us out etc. at the end of it its been a mess of an attacking season.

You are completely misinterpreting the RTS discussion. It’s nothing to do with tall poppy etc. Tigers game finished and a bunch of people post stuff like “RTS has to be our fullback”, “there’s only one position for RTS and that’s fullback”. That’s fine for people to have that view, however plenty don’t and have posted why they disagree with that.
