Post Match Warriors v Dragons - [Round 24, 2025]

🤖 AI Summary

📝 Summary:

Warriors fans express relief at defeating the Dragons to secure a top-4 finals spot, though the win is widely criticized as ugly and unconvincing, with members #7 #8 #33 calling it one of the club's worst victories. Concerns dominate discussions about inconsistent player form—Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck earn praise for strong carries #58 #34, while Jackson Ford, James Fisher-Harris, and Pompey face scrutiny for errors and penalties #54 #71 #87. Broader team challenges include inefficient attacking structures #24 #42, questionable bench rotations #46 #60, and doubts about playoff competitiveness against elite teams #23 #71. Despite the criticism, one member #114 argues the Dragons were resurgent opponents and highlights defensive resilience in the final quarter, crediting improved middle-forward efforts. Others debate Backline experimentation #80 #126, though consensus remains that the win's significance outweighs its flaws for finals qualification #15 #53.

Taine is great on attack in their 20 but lets in a lot of tries and consistently in the wrong place on defence.
He seems to be able to stop all the breakaways that come at him. There have been several over the past few weeks and I don't know if the opposition has managed to score one, even when it was like 3 on 1. Dragons butchered one last night, but I think Taine reads those well enough to disrupt what should always be a try.

The number of errors last night was horrendous, quite out of place with the season as a whole. But what was so pleasing was the desperation to win which has been there since round 2. We are currently sitting above a number of teams who's rosters were talked up at the beginning of the season and were picked to do better than us.
I heard Jarod Croker mentioning our chances on NRL 360 but this was not picked up by Braith Anasta. The latter never mentions the warriors, even when a list of team changes is displayed.

To clarify, I'm not taking it seriously - but my point was to show that there is a reality out there where playing top 8 is not guaranteed. Also, given the injuries and form slump of the team, it is a very real possibility that we don't win any of our remaining games. Being blind to this possibility doesn't help anyone either.

The team needs to be better than the game last night - and perhaps they have some decent excuses for the performance, but they have the ability to be better, so we should also expect them to be better.
Good point but if you go over to the dogs kennel, they are just as pessimistic as us if not worse. They face the Storm next week and there is a chance that we overtake them.

Warriors forward Jackson Ford risks missing the opening week of the finals after he was hit with a Grade 1 Crusher Tackle charge.

The charge puts a dampener on the Warriors' come-from-behind victory over the Dragons on Friday night, with Fard cited for a tackle on Corey Allan in the 23rd minute.

The 27-year-old's prior record has added to the severity of his potential punishment and he will sit out the remainder of the regular season if he accepts the early guilty plea.

Ford will be rubbed out for four weeks if he unsuccessfully contests the charge, which would rule him out of the first week of the finals.

Bulldogs forward Sam Hughes was the only other player charged after Friday's matches, with the prop receiving a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle charge.

Hughes will pay an $1800 fine with the early guilty plea or $2500 if he fights the charge and loses.

Seemed like CHT had a directive to get involved.

It kind of worked, was pretty off the cuff at times. I liked it.
As a huge CHT fan, but aware of his shortcomings.

He's a role player. While disappointing last week it wasn't overly surprising.

- His kicking game is solid, but not spectacular on the left. A complimentary left foot with a better halfback boot beside him on the right.
- Great defender, one of the better halfs in the league.
- Solid ball runner, energy player that backs up well.

A steady complimentary player beside the likes of a Metcalf x-factor player.

God there's an insane amount of negativity here. Did any of you genuinely think this was our year? Especially after losing so many players? Coming into this year our roster was not even near top 8 on paper, then we lost half of it including our captain and halfback.

This season is an actual miracle for us to be in the top 4. Yeah we look janky as fuck cause it's basically the b team at this point, of a squad that wasn't stacked to begin with, while half the comp is coming in hot and mostly fit.

Likely to be 2 out of 3 finals years for Webby, possibly 2 out of 3 top 4 finishes. Absolutely insane turn around for the club. We're not a true top 4 side until the youth comes through, but we're primed for it with these over performances.

Future is bright and the culture is good. Getting shit done ugly is still getting shit done.

Well, just watched the match was expecting a worse match reading the comments , certainly woeful attack structure at one point FISH had the ball close to the line TT was hitting the line at speed, but no passed it to I think it was FORD ..slow dumb ATTACK footy.. WTF is the attacking coach !! needs to freshing up his plays ..bomb bomb is very boring easy to read play

Good part of our poor attacking was Dragoons' D is very good and fast why they beat Raiders/Sharks last couple weeks .. not an easy beat ...really no NRL teams are easy beats ..look what the Rooters did to the Bulldogs !! so called top team LOL..

Still not getting are bench work ...how many times do we need to see FORD gassed for webby to give the guy a rest FFS! Healy adds speed needs 20mins min IMHO

DWZ best game of the season IMHO ...hope he keeps it up ..finally bring back his 110% committed runs

FISH was average, TT had an excuse as he wasn't 100% IMHO . surely we have a better NSW prop than TSS ??

CLARK on attack, Fuckme without him are post impact metres drops massively ... FORD the tackle bot in the middle
great work

TITs next week, we got dominated in the middle last time ... Is TSS ready up to FG ? do we have a better option ? Fish needs to lift

Good post!
Our passion for the team can be sometimes misdirected - if I was going to pour a ‘glass half full’ NZ Wahs Hazy, for everyone we could spin last nights game as,
‘A tough uncompromising win last against a side who had knocked over two top eight sides this past fortnight.
Our injury ravaged side missing several front liners were able to dig deep with a defensive display of the ages keeping the opposition to only 10 points. Whilst not pretty, the win for this unfancied side given little chance of a finals appearance in 2025, has given them belief for the final 3 rounds of the competition and a pending final series appearance when anything is possible.
…. 🪘 🪘 🪘 we are the Warriors 💯 🥳

A win is a win but painful to watch ! Forwards let us down big time ! Erin Clark had a go , looks like no structure most times ! Could throw a blanket over the whole team mostly ! Looks Like everyone is standing there waiting for someone else to do it .
