Post Match Warriors v Dragons - [Round 24, 2025]

🤖 AI Summary

📝 Summary:

Warriors fans express relief at defeating the Dragons to secure a top-4 finals spot, though the win is widely criticized as ugly and unconvincing, with members #7 #8 #33 calling it one of the club's worst victories. Concerns dominate discussions about inconsistent player form—Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck earn praise for strong carries #58 #34, while Jackson Ford, James Fisher-Harris, and Pompey face scrutiny for errors and penalties #54 #71 #87. Broader team challenges include inefficient attacking structures #24 #42, questionable bench rotations #46 #60, and doubts about playoff competitiveness against elite teams #23 #71. Despite the criticism, one member #114 argues the Dragons were resurgent opponents and highlights defensive resilience in the final quarter, crediting improved middle-forward efforts. Others debate Backline experimentation #80 #126, though consensus remains that the win's significance outweighs its flaws for finals qualification #15 #53.

I can’t recall the poster that mentioned it, but Kaufusi only getting 2 weeks with the severity of the injury and his history seems a bit hard to follow? Ford obviously has a poor history too regarding suspensions?
I agree it is suss. But as I say if it some plot then the joke is on them. You watch us play better without him. I remember one game last year where Ford was on an edge and Shaun fired him three passes on three successive sets and he dropped all of them. Shaun gave him the spray of all sprays and I wasn't sure whose side to be on as I don't really approve of sprays. I have dropped goober catches in cricket and you don't want to be sprayed for it. However my point is Ford has been spilling the ball for years. Webster doesn't seem notice or care.

I ask again.
What credit are you giving him for? Doing hit ups ?
Did he catch any bombs or make any try saving tackles? What was so great about his performance? He score any tries ? Asking cause I don’t know .. 😉
Something I noticed last night. Not sure how relevant it is but TT is much quicker bringing the ball back than CNK but doesn't get the same PCM due to his size. Maybe it evens out in field position?

I’m actually be keen to know how accurate these stats are and how they are being measured.

Is it computerised or is there some guy in the stands with a pen and paper measuring this stuff?….

Taine PCM is probably negated as some of it is sideways and others he ends up getting rag dolled backwards resulting in minus PCM..

He was running a good line off JFH at one point that went right through a gap but JFH passed to Ford

You were in my thoughts when he fell to his knees in that ptb again. I thought if anyone’s giving their tv a spray like I am it’ll be you

I think his overall performances this year have been much below what I expected. May be, he has reached his pinnacle and, there is only one way to go from there. It will be interesting if he is selected for the Kiwis this year.

As captain of the Kiwis he will be selected lol.

The JFH commentary is interesting to me. Many educated posters were quick to point out when he signed that he ain't no AFB.

It's quite obvious he lifts a good forward pack but he's not an alpha metre eater prop forward. The loss of Barnett was a real blow as the two of them were an epic combo.

It's even more obvious his presence and Mana is doing wonders for the young lads. Especially Demi (who to me is right up there with Clark for player of the year).

He won't be happy with that performance but I can't get on board with any posts that he is coasting or declining.

That's the thing - the coaching staff and players all mention how much he lifts the standards.

And the connection to the culture is amazing.

We're lucky to have him.

Looking at the panthers sides that have won the comp that he’s been apart of, they often had a solid middle forward come off the bench in the likes of Leniu, Lindsay Smith and Henry

Bollocking runs, starting our sets off well.
No errors
172m running meters
No poor misses tackles leading to tries.
Got us our first penalty due to a strong run and attempted quick play the balls.

Not saying he was our best player by any stretch, but credit where credit is due. Dal has been pretty poor by his standards this year, but he's slowly building and getting back to his best. If Berry is back next week, that could be even better signs for DWZ moving forward

Lol apart from the odd lunatic who's burying their head in the sand? I think the overwhelming majority on this thread alone while glad we got the points have recognized that was not a good performance last night.

As per the quote above weak players performances and deficiencies across the team get pointed out pretty fast on here......it seems some were worried that wouldnt be the case haha
My apologies I was not targeting you with that reply even though it probably looks like it.

Yeah as they should, players need to be held accountable, this is a warriors discussion forum. When they are going well they certainly deserve praise and when they are not questions need to be asked.
