Stressful win AGAIN!

Well done. We owned the last 15 minutes again with composure.

De Ballen was huge for the Dragons and single handedly got them in the game in the second half.

2nd on the table!
DeBelin was huge. Head clash with Ford and he’s off and as third tackler puts a shoulder to the kidneys and Egan struggles to stay on. (Plus lots of plain good work)

About two plays later we had opportunity to return the hurt on DeBelin and our boys played the game instead of the man. They took the classy high road and i was screaming for blood… if it was Marata I guess he would’ve been off.

Should have 1 of our forwards have a punch up with DeBelin right after the Egan incident, I'm sure both will be binned but it sends a message

Didn't we get docked a couple of points for infringements on the salary cap as well?

I was following the NRL or Winfield cup as it was when League decided to try Rugby Union Kickers, as I am sure many of the older posters will remember.

Many fans now do not realise that goal kicking was not a priority in Rugby league before the experimental inclusion of the New Zealand Rugby Union kickers in the eighties.

I won't bang on like an old fart, just to say we learned from that history that using your goal kicker is never the wrong option - it changed the entire sport....goal kicking.....everyone takes it seriously now because clubs won championships off it.

Still look back with glee at the time when the Aussies were saying that Halligan and Ridge were stupid buys and that they wouldn't make it in the NRL.....

(Nota bene: Mic Cronin was a kicking great pre the arrival of the Allblacks in the NRL, but he was the exception that proves the rule - fact still stands that Rugby Union taught league about goal kickers - a lesson forgotten by league eighty years after the split).
And Mick was a toe kicker as well. Held the points record for many years. Can't remember if Chook or El-Masri broke it.
Good point about the union influence. And it was the Brits and Europeans that influenced the change to instep kicking in NZ rugby. Especially after the '71 Lions tour.
