Just a few late thoughts on the game.

- Pompey surely has won his spot over RTS. Just so safe and has good hands for his winger because he doesn't get rushed and shut down like Roger.

That begs a pretty awkward question doesn't it? Does RTS really make a huge upgrade to our wing stock.

I've never really been able to visualise where he fits.

Interesting the chat around Barny staking a 2nd row spot for NSW even though he’s played front row most of the season.
Optically playing on the edges through the last two weeks he’s looked more dangerous. I hope Webster keeps him there and rotate AFB, Bunty, Jazz , Ale, Tohu through the middle and a mixed use of Marata in both positions when needed but ideally on the edges.
I think he will be a bench middle if anythign for NSW. He is playing edge for us with the injuries we have at the moment but is getting caught short at times with his ability to slide across in defence. I think they will go with more agile second rowers for NSW

I've always been on the opinion that unfortunately Monty gets bumped out for RTS. Rogers strengths are speed and agility which as we saw with Isaako's tries are Montoyas weaknesses - he took an age to turn and chase in the last try.

The bombs with Berry are great. They keep us in the right end of the field they were never the problem.

Trapping the opposition inside their 10 is a powerful play for sure. And yes, the major issue with it, was our discipline after we had done it.

However, when our gameplan is so incredible simplistic, it becomes robotic. There is no eyes up footy, you almost have muscle memory taking over. The opposition knows what we are going to do, builds a corresponding gameplan, and gains confidence from it. And I believe the NRL will encourage refs to manage ultra-conservative tactics.

I definitely don't want to see it disappear entirely, but I'd like to see the whole team using their skills and intuition together rather than playing the percentages to that degree.

You have to be able to switch between conservative and agressive I think. The captain should have a feeling when it’s time to grind and when it’s time to put the knife in.

He did, though I feel a bit sorry for him there. He was marking an overlap (we were toast if Kodi had put it through the hands) and his momentum was heading to the inside. He was a bit unfortunate in that he needed to make a full turn in the wrong direction rather than just jinking back like he normally would. My only concern from the early season for Monts was the high ball, which he is going great guns with now.

I was really disappointed with RTS at wing in the Reece Walsh days. The position has evolved. I'm not saying he can't do it, I have always thought it was his most natural position. He was truly elite at the Roosters.

- MGT is one hearty mofo. Second and Third run on the exit set are tough carries and he was getting pcms all day. Defence is FG standard.
- Bunty made Plath his bitch.
- Dyl Walker's speed and ball playing at the line generates good mid set momentum - this suits Ale and Jazz.
- Where to fit SJ? TMM has shown the control enough to run that right side and get the team around. Also some 1v1 defensive efforts have been heroic. Let SJ make magic on the left side?
- Pompey surely has won his spot over RTS. Just so safe and has good hands for his winger because he doesn't get rushed and shut down like Roger.
- Niukore's impact on the edge has been sorely missed. His lack of match fitness is to Laban's benefit. The rise of the Webby Era stable is a pleasing sign towards the top 30 all being capable of first grade.
The last 2 weeks the aggression and intent in contact has won it for us because we're not relying on stars to carry us - no point in having icing without a cake.
- The thought of a Barnett and JFH combo next year is mouthwatering.
All good but please explain first sentence.

Webster keeps banging on about team harmony in the dressing room and references having no one moping around before kick off, how this showed we were gonna be up for it.

Who is he talking about mopping? Lmao.

But yeah in all seriousness half the interview (the start and the ending) were indirect and direct AFB references.

Shows how much mental energy can be taken up by one mans actions in a team set up.

I also think Roger is more suited to the wing nowadays where his evasive skill and speed is more effective (than fullback).

Runs 2 and 3 coming off our own try line are running at a set defensive line. Those runs hurt because there are no gaps, you're basically always running into shoulders. (Those are the ones Dallin usually gets smoked on) MGT's legdrive after hitting the line meant that he was winning the contact, peeling off a few more meters and getting a quick play.

I thought TMM had a really average kicking game but was everywhere on D. Chanel outplayed him in the halves yesterday. Lussicks service was as crap as ever so you could lay part blame on that.

A lot of people questioning our top grade players coming back which is insane. An SJ in a team without confidence vs a confident ( and fully fit) team is wildly different. We had several guys playing injured which really slowed us up, a lot of drop ball and penalties. The last 2 weeks has shown fitness which improves our discipline and gives us a good share of the ball.

For me there everyone returning after the bye gets their spot back. Only real shift I would make would be Tohu to only play 13 for 20 minutes.

I like winning more than losing 🤣

CHT is mr everywhere. He needs to play 80mins every week. Don’t know what position but he needs to be on the field

Fill in at fullback
Surely you can't think of replacing him after yesterday's superlative performance (which earned him maximum MOM points)
