17 days out from the first trial.

How is everyones itchy feet doing?

Interested to hear some perspectives on the starting side for trial 1.

With our season starting a week earlier will Webby go straight to his best 17 or will he look to do some blooding too?

!st trial will just be a mish mash of the whole squad getting a run, basically running out a different team every quater....nothing much to read into.

2nd trial might be a slightly closer line up to what they'll run out in Vegas.

Tbh trials never do much for me. I understand a clubs need for their players to have a hit out, but i just find it hard to invest in these games with nothing on them, and that lack the intensity of the NRL proper. Fans make the mistake of reading too much into them i think

......although it is nice i suppose after being starved of the oval ball codes all summer seeing the pigskin get chucked around again.

Yup, first qtr of second preseason game is all I'm really looking at with any potential read of the round one team

A lot of guys seem to be looking trimmer. Demetric noted in his resigning interview he’s trimmed down and feels more mobile and more energetic.

You have blowing Demetric's horn in multiple posts the last three weeks. Serious question - now that Shaun has retired and we are picking new men to follow is Demetric your guy? Or are you trying him of for size based on how he goes the first few games?

There is an interview with Dylan Walker and Jazz where Walker states that he thinks Demetric will be a future captain. I like his aggression but he needs more game time to see how much he will progress.

He will be 32 for most of this season. And still a year to go on his contract. Wing is not really a position for a player near the end of their career. But then again we know he cannot pass the ball or create when at centre and there is a vacancy on the wing so it does make sense.

So far its been more of a case of fitting him into the team rather than his performances making him a must inclusion in the 17. Good luck to him this year.

with Erin, Metcalf, Walker, Demetric I definitely think an up-tempo approach is the way to win. Cant force yourself to be the best but you can force yourself to be the fittest.

Just think back to when Vaimauga was 17 and playing for redcliffe in the covid days to this pre season!

I was waiting for him patiently last season and of course knew he was coming back from an ACL injury. I thought to myself (unless i have posted)

If he comes back from an ACL and plays nrl this year (2024) this kid is going to be somthing special!

Now you could say injury's paved the way for him, but we had a fully fit Bunty Afoa and this guy was picked! That is fucken impressive for the coaching staff to see this guy coming back from an ACL was hungry to get out there and bang heads.

He looked to me like a kid playing with his favorite toys out there! When he scored that try in that dolphins game at suncorp, I think he flicked a switch.

He's my fucken guy! Him And Ali Leiataua all the way!!!!

I really hope Zyon Maiu’u kicks on also, not sure what's keeping him back at this stage, but I hope he can get going this season and take it another level.

I know a lot of people have great hype for young guns in the lower grades, but I've always said, unless you are killing it in cup as a youngster then who cares!

These kids are all trying to swim to the top, not all will make it, so when these guys do, they are the ones to get excited about!

Eddy Toeava looks like the next one, for me it's just focus on who's making the cup team each week.
