The Herald understands Metcalf could miss the first quarter of next season, with his return tentatively earmarked for round seven against Gold Coast Titans in Auckland. There are a lot of variables around that date as recoveries from ACL injuries are different depending on the individual, but that is what the club are planning for at this stage. It could happen earlier for Metcalf but it also might be later, towards round eight or nine.
Barnett, whose injury occurred in the round 13 game against the Rabbitohs on June 1, a few days after he had starred for New South Wales in their opening State of Origin victory in Brisbane, will be back sooner. The club are currently planning for his return in the first fortnight of the season, against either the Roosters in round one or the Raiders in round two. That is the most likely scenario but the Herald has also been told that date could move to the third or fourth week of the season.

Good news on Metcalf- I’d heard round 10 but that was a while ago- must be progressing well.
I wonder what might’ve been if they had stayed fit last year. I’m confident to say we would’ve finished top 4 which would’ve pushed Brisbane out of the 4 and u have a completely different finals series.
