I don't see him coming back in either grade this year, get the impression that ship has sailed. I think his exit from here on could be fairly swift.
I tend to agree. BUT probably depends on his status within the team, if he’s liked, and we think we may be in a premiership window, if he gets his future sorted why not have him hang around and potentially fix a hole if either CHT or Tanah go down

The important part here is that we know the direction the club is taking on regards to the 7 role.

This could have been really drawn out, but has been sorted within a bye round.
I’m super intrigued how we use the money. Do we go all out on a gun fullback / centre / halfback / Barney replacement, or do we feel that we have the nucleus of a winning squad and spread the love on long contracts for the development guys?

i never thought he was the ideal 6 as
he didnt give his centre space, leaving the decision to pass a bit late

He was better suited to 7, but with a handful of games, I don’t blame the club for locking up an (in-form) replacement in Boyd

Add to that, the injuries and the price tag, his departure isn’t terrible

Just hope Boyd keeps improving

The difference in work ethics is pretty stark

I am happy Marata is in cup, that means no more senior player take a spot ahead of rookies who are playing well or stepping up or picked based on salary. Webby upgrading himself hard this year

There is real steel to Webby this year, so impressive.

I always felt he had a bit of "just happy to be here" about him but you could not deny the results so happy to run with it.

He has morphed now into a true first grade coach and just quietly has the chance to do what Ivan & Anderson could not do, multiple Top 4 finishes.

They have of course have a GF appearance, who would bet against Webby getting one of those this year?

Part of the change has to be our run of good fortune with injuries.

One can only wonder where we would have been earlier in his tenure had we a reasonably stable roster since Webster took over.

I take your point though, there is a change in Webster this year.

Gould will argue he was in NZ to see some young talent. They are a development club after all. 😆

He likely would have talked with Metcalf. Get some feelers out.

If he did move to the Bulldogs this year. It would be crazy that two years in a row they have signed a half part way through a season. More likely it will be next year as they work to free up cap space. How does Metcalf fit into their Moneyball stats they use? He did admit sometimes they look at things by instinct.

Metcalf at 7 with Galvin at 6 would be enticing for them. It would be interesting to see how it would work. Burton at 6 was sitting on one side of the field. If Galvin moved to a similar role it is a lot less ball. He might eventually get off side.

Can Ciraldo improve halves like Webster seems to be doing?

Like others have posted it have some of our young halves on the books thinking there is an opportunity now.
