General Is the Metcalf experience to halves over?

For me, that's his best position at 6. He can pick and choose his moments and there is less pressure on him. AW has kind of painted himself in to a corner now though with his comments and with how CHT is going at 6.

Would Boyd at 7 with his organization, kicking game and goal kicking free up Metcalf at 6 to be more creative and threatening?

You're reminding me of the "Roger is centre" nightmares 🤣 Hope this is not a sequel

NZWarriors.com

long answer short: the experience is not over.
I don’t get posts putting him at five-eight over CHT, then putting in Boyd or TMM at halfback - like how are they better than CHT? Or Metcalfe at halfback? TMM is a better ball player, but his long kicking game is dusty AF. Boys couldn’t crack it at the Titans. Would either of them have stopped Canberra’s forwards going nuts? Or the Storm being the Storm?

We’re not going to win the premiership this year. IMO, 2027 is the year we’ll be pushing for it at the earliest. I’m talking about WINNING btw. Which means top 4.

There are 2 main roster holes in our squad.
The obvious.
6. CHT
7. Metcalf
First off, who else is there? (2027)
With the next 2 seasons under their belts they should be much more settled. If they can 35-40 out of 48 (minimum) games together over seasons 25-26. I think we’ll be better placed than most other clubs. Also if TMM is our cover half that’s great. (Highly unlikely)

The next hole is. (2027)
11. Capewell
12. Niukore
13. Clark
None of these 3 starts for a top 4 team.
NO I DON’T HATE CLARK. It just the truth.
The good news is by 2027 Capewell and Niukore will be moved on (Capewell definitely, I’d lowball Niukore with a minimum).
Halasima, Laban and Vaimauga will have 3 seasons under their belts.

I think Clark will be an excellent 14, similar to Walker. Different skill set, but a crucial FRESH injection at the 20 minute mark.

Also, we’ll have a settled (hopefully) centre pairing in Ali and Berry with hopefully some dynamic wingers.

An ageing front row might be a little worrying though.

Would put Clark over Hetherington, Jake Trbojevic, Loiero and Jaeman Salmon. And i've got to assume at least two of broncos, sea eagles, storm and bulldogs will be top 4 this year.

Dynamic wingers will be Ed Kosi 😉

2027 -
8. Fish (last year before regressing)
9. Egan
10. Demetric
11. Laban
12. Leka
13. ?? Clark (I think he's fine with Healey 14)

Barney will be over the hill by then....

Sea Eagles despondent about how DCE's defection has had bad affect on team's performance. May be a fourth spot available.

I think we should utilise Boyd's kicking and organising skills. He seems to go okay in Cup
I wish I was tech savvy enough to put together a Boyd 2024 Titans package.

Long story less long, it was grim to say the least. 2 from 10 with him as halfback from memory and one of those was our complete no show hiding against them.

If you've played enough NRL, driving a team round as a halfback at cup level is a cake walk comparatively because of the space and time you are given in that grade.

Gus did an interesting article recently and I can't find it but it was about the standard of Cup footy and how bad it is and getting worse.
Like going from Fox to NRL the difference is huge

Yeah, you might. So what? lol

The narrative around this guy has changed so much over the last couple months.
Originally, he got the role cause he’s a “ball player”. Hasn’t really been much of that.

Then…… it’s cause of his dynamic running game and quick play the ball. Which I actually agree with. It’s been exceptional.

Then……. It’s cause he “sets the tone in defence”. 18-0 when he came off.
(How people can tell that from the TV is a little funny to me, but ok)
Cause I went to a couple live games and it seemed like JFH and Barnett were the drivers IMO. But whatever.

Craig Bellamy has NEVER picked a player like Clark as his 13 (consistently). And his system has lasted 20 years……
Why didn’t he pick Brandon Smith at 13?Melbourne Storm B Smith is twice the player Clark is. (I’m not interested in his Roosters form with the benefit of hindsight)

Seibold absolutely wouldn’t.

And Maguire is leaning heavily into the “ball playing lock”. (Which Erin doesn’t really do much of, even though apparently that’s the original reason he got the job) They don’t need the yards that Clark gets with Haas and Carrigan.

Ok, maybe Salmon. Who isn’t playing badly btw. That’s a maybe.

Granted but suggest his experience must be useful and his goal kicking is more reliable compared with Luke (particularly from not in front)

metcalf experiment should not be over move the other pieces around him first dwz coming back changes things a bit taine at fullback might also suit his game more give ya labans lekas ect more mins in there
