The halves are going to be interesting. Big shoes to fill but also a big opportunity.

A lot dependent on them. Getting the team around the field, implementing the game plan, pass selection, kicking.

Good to finally have a game to watch.

Simply LM is not a 7 and also TMM's not a 6

Everyone said SJ wasn't a 7. Everyone said Hughes wasn't a 7 ... so on and so forth...
He'll learn.
6 and 7 are so interchangeable... dead are the days of playing a second rower with a pass at 6.

Agree with most of your post.My thinking is Metcalf is the running half & needs the space one off the ruck to be most effective.

Everyone seems to be getting a bit caught up about a number on the back for a trial game. Possibly misguided by the fact we just retired an elite experienced halfback who rightfully so dominated the ball.

We will need to wait and see how the attack is structured. But imo neither will get a lions share like SJ did, as neither really commands it. Expecting to see a more varied attack shape using both sides with both halves playing off eachother at different points depending on the situation.

Whether Metcalf's boot is long enough to do the bulk of the field kicking is a far bigger worry for me.

TMM has a decent red zone kick and grubber, but his long boot is rough and Egan doesn't kick.

Hopefully the human window pane can deliver boot wise and stay healthy.

Unfortunately we have double glazed halves.
TBF I hope we have a better time with injuries this year.
Not too much to ask for surely.
However I think we are in for another disappointing season

Week 2 was basically the Round 1 team, with a couple of changes to the bench.
Niukore didn't play till Round 4 - must have been injured.

Some train spotter can correct me here, but I cannot remember a year going back to 1995 where the Warriors did not run out no names trial one and shadow 17 for trial two.

Also the NRL would have made it clear to all clubs involved in the Las Vegas promotion that participation required their full strength line ups (not that they would need to since it is an NRL game proper, however the National Rugby League would have informed the Warriors that they expect their best players, their best effort, and their best conduct off the field as ambassadors of the NRL).

Why do I get the feeling the warriors are ill prepared for the 2025 season, way to many questions going into this season.

It feels very unsettling, are they okay with their halves?

I'm sorry to be negative, but I don't like the fact we are hanging on the fitness of Luke Metcalf, love the guy but he has to stay fit!

I have this team tracking to a bottom 4 finish realistically, and would be happy if we beat last seasons 13th place.

I just feel like this team is far from settled. Especially in the backs.

I have a similar feeling but I drum it up to SJ's boots are too big to fill and there's no heir apparent who can do what SJ could do...

I'm reminded of feelings from when Blake Green and CHT ran the halves - good enough but not great.

I take solace in that fact that we had three great wins last year when SJ was on ice and TMM and LM had the reins: Penrith, Dolphins and Cowboys. More of that please!
