General Warriors Preseason 2026

These players will be 22-23 next year

Vaimauga
Laban
Ieremia-Toeava
Fatialofa
Gannon
Stowers-Smith

Plus 21yo Leka

There’s some serious first graders there, beginning to enter their prime years.

We will still have the following veterans
JFH
Barnett
Clark
Ford

The pack looks fine to me. Let Capes and Niukore go, CNK to centre, sign a fullback.

They probably would have extended both but the progression of Leka and Laban means they will be starting second rowers next year & there replacements on the bench will be EIT and Kayliss so definitely no need to keep either

Jacob Laban in for a massive year I reckon. Last year was so unfortunate when he got injured. I thought he was playing well too! Can’t wait to see what 2026 brings him

Capes niukore and Barnett....
That's a lot of experience gone.
Fish , Jacko and Erin have a lot of heavy lifting there.

We have a fullback - Taine

RTS not resigned either.

On the positive we have quite a few senior players with Egan, CNK, etc still providing leadership and setting standards.
Webby said if RTS performs like last year he absolutely wants him here. I think that is the benchmark. I think if we don't win this year, and he performs well thus year, we'll extend him year by year. Rugby 360 is now a leap for most players.

I like it. But with the departure of Barnett have you anything to to add? Or stay the course? (I am in the make Marata a prop now in case Barnett taps out early and or we see the usual horrible run of Prop injuries, and keep the shopping list handy).

Marata to prop is a good band aid for us.

RTS was non committal about extending in an interview a few weeks ago, I think he might chase a rugby contract going forward.

He basically sacrificed some of the best years of his career to get some AB caps, so that he can earn $$$ in Japan. If a long term deal is on the table vs a year to year deal for less Warriors money, easy decision. R360 he was obviously keen for, which shows how he's thinking.

And I don't blame the dude, get the $$ while it's still there. He's one leg injury away from not getting another decent NRL contract.

It's a business. Clubs and the NRL and players and staff etc. Get what you can while you can.
