Jackson Ford is an absolute monster, if he can sort his errors he will be a cult figure. 100% effort. Michael Luck-esque talking machine.

Both the edges have cleaned up their defence so well, props to Pomptoya and Watene-Berryezniak

I think his handling errors will be mitigated greatly at prop because he is not having to hold on to that crash ball. The lead runner stuff needs some urgent addressing though. He has done it in three separate weeks, and I wonder if it is an attention thing.

It is clearly obvious that prop is the way forward for Jackson. He will be a real asset, and it is nice to be able to put more dynamic players in the second row.

I thought Capewell was lumbering around a bit. He seems to have lost a lot of his athleticism, and his returns with the ball in hand are not flash. Webster said CHT will be on the bench. We know one of Walker/Harris will. Tevaga has to be there for me too. I'd rather someone like Sifakula or Ale got that last spot.

Shout out to Pompey. He should never been dropped and I was a hater of his before last year. Credit to him for not having a sook after being disrespected. RTS can play wing or NSW cup. What a waste of cap space…
what I have been saying ...Pomps key player links well with the team..

IMHO RTS to wing ...or could he play a hooker role .. lussick replacement? too good not to have on the field even for limited mins ..

What are you smoking?

SJ is known as one of the weakest halves on defense in the comp.

Shaun Johnsons defensive story is layered.

In the beginning he was one of the worst in the NRL.

Then he had Ruben Wiki running at him during the week and became the best defensive half in the NRL (started with a massive spot tackle of Sam Burgess, that gave him the confidence to be a defensive star).

This year he has been missing badly, there is a story to be told there, between him and Capewell, they leave gaps in their channel at times (people will pull me up and point out Capewell doesn't miss many) but what I am talking about is their spacing, which comes down to communication.

Those saying SJ is off because of injury, and me throwing Capewell in their as part of the issue, should bear in mind that both players have been playing hurt.

But to your main point, Shaun Johnson has been the best defensive half in the comp for the bulk of his career and therefore the best defensive back at the Warriors potentially ever.

Big Dog Berry has some serious run metre average and post contact average lol, it’s a statistical tie between him, AFB and Marata

Love the share of minutes for the pack

Not sure if Tohu and Capewell on at the same time will slow us down. Cape and Ford should not be on at the same time I feel

Ford and AFB have the 2nd and 3rd fastest play the ball, topped by Lussick put him at prop!
Note Dalin's post contact metres compared with Chanze. That reinforces my view that he is better suited to fullback (despite that magical try in the corner)

Last night felt a bit different.

20 minutes attack.
20 minutes conservative.
20 minutes conservative
20 minutes attack.

I.e gain a healthy lead, defend until half time. Have a break. Defend until the last 20, attack to finish them off.

The benches seems to reflect this (more defensively strong players playing that mid period)

Thinking back to earlier this season, I wonder if we were attempting, but failing to execute this.
What also has to be taken into account is that often when one team does get ahead like we did, there can be a sway in momentum. ….And after the half time talk from Peyton, the Cowboys came out much stronger than they did in the first half - which is showing the fact that we weren’t as Dominant in the first 20 minutes after half time. I don’t think it would’ve mattered who we had on the field. That was about us making sure that when they had the energy, momentum and 6-agains / penalties, we didn’t allow them to build score-board pressure.

I love seeing the young guys getting a chance. However, the Young guys don’t have the experience to know exactly what to do in the championship moments. Of course they can only get that knowledge and execution through playing more game time and their time will come. Laban and co. can run harder and faster than Capewell and Tohu, but when we are in need of cool heads, patience, trust, discipline leadership and knowing what to do in different situations when we’re overloaded - the experienced players are the ones that are going to get us through that.

It was a bit EZ if we’re honest, had them from the start and no response.

Great no injuries and should be confident going into the game against the purple filth.

Capewell still ??? Have gone back to what worked last year with big edges and mobile middle.
Noticing the Cowboys performance last night Broncos performance last night

And you know how backing up after Orign has been a thing for yonks? Well the speed of the game has increased and playing games like Wednesdays Origin was fast. So playing back up games needs to be seriously considered now.

I think Webby held Tohu for injection because he understands how fast the game is and has cracked the code of coaching this version of the game.

Help please. Someone explain it better

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Tohu?

Genius of Webby to hold him back until the last 15 of the first half. Looked fresher than everyone else and was ripping in. He’s getting slower though. No doubt about it.

Capewell is kinda similar. You can see the difference in speed between these guys and the younger recruits like Laban, Ale and Zyon Maiu’u. The younguns have ferocious energy

Jazz was strong but didn’t stand out from the pack like he did last two games. Didn’t see any mistakes which was good.

We didn’t use our challenge which is another plus.
Jazz made Taumalolo his target. Made 3 or 4 boot lace tackles of him when in limited time on the field.

To be fair to SJ and Webby - the game plan that was formulated worked really well last year, and as TMM was out for most of the year there wasn't really any opportunity to see what he had. Even this year, the game plan was working well until we hit that 4 week shit show, where everyone was dropping like flies so there really wasn't much of an opportunity to figure out how TMM and SJ can coexist

Now that we've seen what TMM can do and we can see he can do it consistently, I back Webby to solve the puzzle about how to fit both TMM and SJ into the team where they both get good opportunities.

It might not happen in the first game back for them as the Storm are currently coming 2nd, but I really do believe that if they're given 5-7 games to sort out how to manage this, we could have the best halves pairing in the comp.

Big call I know, but TMM had 4 try assists on the weekend and 3 against Penrith. That's fucking ridiculous. To put that in to context Cleary has only ever had 3 try assists in a game 3 times, and 0 times has he ever had 4 in a match. Same for SJ, he's never had 4 in a match (has hit 3 8 times in his career). I know it's hard to compare those stats against each other, I just want to point out that our 3rd or 4th half at the beginning of the year is posting some absolutely ridiculous numbers right now, so we should be looking at how we can incorporate both players strengths into the team instead of picking one or the other

Lussick I think will be last bench spot
