I would read the riot act if I were coach. They are playing afraid and tentative. Not in the moment. I would be furious as coach.

The reactions to hits like Thompson's one always make me laugh.

He knew he had made a mistake, put his arm up to acknowledge it and was looking the other way. So an opposition player who wants to look after his team mate pushes him from behind which causes a wider issue as everyone rushes in.

Often the player that performs the head high is sorry and ends up protecting themselves from the swarm that comes in.

The tackled players team mates usually make things worse so the tackler ends up defending themselves and it looks like they have started a brawl. Or the modern push and shove.

Goes back to my biggest hate of the NRL's power over the international game. Leo Thompson should be suspended round 1 of the NRL season 2025. Not an international game. Knights are stoked right now hes gonna serve his suspension by not playing for the Kiwis but counting as part of his suspension. Absolutely disgusting how that happens.

I reckon Hynes confidence is shot, especially no matter how much he wants to avoid the noise, there’s no way he can.
