Abuse in all forms of state care is proven.
Successive Govts have dodged the issue and hidden behind enquires etc and have not had the guts to front up to survivors of abuse.
It is a national disgrace, worse than anything in our history. Based on two things, I have little faith the truth will ever be truly revealed.
1, The Govt, professional institutions including medical, legal and the Police and Churches will obstruct any investigation as they are implicated.
2. Once an abuser or pedo, always one. I have had dealings with a pedo, they exist within an enviroment of respectability and trust which they have manipulated so they can abuse. When allegations are made against these pedos, they trade on their reputations and power, people believe then over a kid that can't get their story right under cross examination or as an adult decades down the track. I have had huge disagreements with people siding with a pedo because that was the easiest thing for them to do. Eventually they turn on the messenger as well. I have no doubt pedo rings existed and still do among the most powerful people in NZ and those of the same class will do everything they can to deflect attention from them.
