This is an editorial piece from the herald showing their internal thinking. It basically bags the government and ends in this warped thinking:
āIf banks see risk in continuing to do business with fossil fuel polluters at some point, then they must move to mitigate that risk.
Itās not a āwokeā choice, it is a statutory duty they have to their shareholders.
This Government has promised to make doing business easier for business. It should follow through on that commitment.ā
Itās not banks place to play god with customers businesses - they are not moral police and what their customers do isnāt up to them to police - very left thinking.
Complaining about making it easier for banks to do business is totally blind to the fact the banks are stopping legal businesses doing business.
There is no statuatory risk dealing with legal customers. Flawed woke thinking.
Totally woke left editorial highlighting the editorial stance of the herald.
OPINION: It's not for politicians to decide if banks are too woke it is for shareholders.
