He’s under a bit of pressure currently - lots of debt, more capital investment than expected, much weaker mining services outlook than expected & the lithium & iron ore prices in trouble. He’s also known for not exactly being politically correct with his public comments - doesn’t care much what others think.Perhaps his idea of a joke is ill conceived
Cute if you think NZ hasnt been stuck in the 70s, since the 70s. NZs entire PT system is fucking rubbish and Auckland isnt worth visit on traffic alone.Corrupt and regressive, setting us back decades.
Opinion: New transport plan steers NZ back to a car-dependent past
New Zealanders will likely find themselves stuck in worsening traffic, waiting for highways that may never materialise, writes Tim Welch.www.1news.co.nz
Hopefully we can get it sorted before you turn up to give your pilates classesCute if you think NZ hasnt been stuck in the 70s, since the 70s. NZs entire PT system is fucking rubbish and Auckland isnt worth visit on traffic alone.
Our health system in utter dissarray and crisis. I can't get an appointment at my local doctor for 3 weeks minimum, and others have shut their books and will not take on new patients.
Meanwhile Lester Levy gleefully strips 1.5 billion out of a system that is already in crisis and at breaking point.
Meanwhile we get billions in tax breaks for the already wealthy and landlords.
WE CANNOT AFFORD THE TAX CUT FOR THE RICH.
It's a war on New Zealanders, the poor. This appalling, corrupt government

Amazes me that you’re so willing too sacrifice the lowest paid and beneficiaries, and renters because some wealthier people also gain. Our health system in utter dissarray and crisis. ' Induced demand " So, building a new road to replace an old one actually creates congestion because it encourages use and demand? Do you really believe that?Corrupt and regressive, setting us back decades.

That part is actually true. Building more roads induces more traffic.' Induced demand " So, building a new road to replace an old one actually creates congestion because it encourages use and demand? Do you really believe that?
The current Govt is the most progressive we have had for a long time especially given they had to undo some of the disasters of the previous inept lot. There is a lot more to come.
More traffic on the new road assuming it gets users to their destination quicker than the old road. However, less on the old road. That part is actually true. Building more roads induces more traffic.

That would solely be because of the utterly invincible, regressive roading lobby. Oh, they happen to be right wing and ultra conservative. Now there's a surprise.Cute if you think NZ hasnt been stuck in the 70s, since the 70s. NZs entire PT system is fucking rubbish and Auckland isnt worth visit on traffic alone.
You're confused. Your solution is part of the problem - an extreme form of capitalism called neoliberalism.I’m agreeing with you about the health system but not the health cuts. Our health system is in crisis.
Our health system have been slowly regressing for 20+ years (neoliberalism???). We have an aging population, increasingly unfit with growing complex health issues.
My solution - Only rich economies with big profitable companies paying big wages and big taxes (not just taxing rich people) can support a first class health system. A small economy being over taxed to death won’t cut it.
We need to grow our economy and productivity. Our health system just mirrors our slow slip down the global rankings with GDP growth not keeping up with health budget growth.
How do we get a stronger economy to carry the extra costs? Encourage investment, promote innovative companies, expand into resource extraction, encourage the rich to spend on their businesses and growing the economy instead of paying more taxes. Grow faster than our costs.
So I agree with you that the system needs refreshing. You blame neoliberalism and wanting regressive policies; I’m the opposite believing we need policies that promote growth faster than costs and expanding the economy will deliver the outcomes we want.
All hail the mighty landlords!!! Long live the billionnaires!!! HUZZAH!!!Amazes me that you’re so willing too sacrifice the lowest paid and beneficiaries, and renters because some wealthier people also gain.
How? A household with two incomes just $1 an hour over the minimum wage will receive the same tax cut as a billionaire would. But, in your world those struggling on just $24.50 an hour wouldn’t get their $38 per week tax cut because John Key, or Chris Luxon, or Rod Duke, or the Mowbrays or other rich listers would also get an extra $38 per week.
And why renters. Because landlords pass on the higher costs such as not being able to claim interest to their tenants by increasing rents.
But, no, in your way off thinking it’s far better that the lowest suffer. Amazing logic you have!!!!
And here's the same warped logic..... you would make sure no one at the bottom receives anything because a few at the top would get $38 per week for their households. All hail the mighty landlords!!! Long live the billionnaires!!! HUZZAH!!!
Did you donate your your cost of living payments Mike?BTW, I've already increased the monthly donations I make by my tax cut.... what have you done with yours?
