Because it's all about you. The cry of the rare spotted neolib seldom heard in New Zealand, mostly found on talkback radio - "Why should I......."
My mates are keen cyclists in Auckland. All lawyers . accountants and businessmen. They don't cycle to work though. They use the cycleways to train for their annual European trip cycling the tour de France route, Italy, Spain.
Their bikes are $20k jobs.
Socialists like you should be appalled that this amenity is provided for these rich sods.

This is such boomer energy. "Old man shakes fist at cloud"

If you drive a car, you want more money spent on mode-shift infrastructure. To get other people out of their cars.
Cycle lanes and public transport haven't reached Northland yet.

Nothing against Te Reo, in fact I support more multilingual like most of overseas but like overseas, use all languages to communicate.
That could be a fair compromise but it really seems like there’s more pressing things needing attention rather than this be apart of a first 100 day commitment.

Get in touch with the national party, think you can learn on the taxpayers.
Mate we had a lot to do with the Ministry of Education and all new stuff was in Te Reo to the extreme.

Meeting and zooms ended up going in circles with nobody knowing what was being talked about and talking in circles and miscommunication.

Not just me. The Ministry people were immersed in it and talking on another level with teachers and managers just very frustrated and feeing a sense of disconnected with some actively disengaging from the meetings.

I'd like to see cyclists pay an annual registration fee and have their bike and safety gear checked and certified.
The odd cyclist I've seen in Auckland have only been in wealthy suburbs. It really is a rich mans mode of transport or hobby.
Why should poor folk driving an old car have to subsidise these rich pseudo greenies.
Have a look at cyclists in Christchurch - it’s the exact opposite. It’s the ride of choice for the down and outers. Not many wear helmets or cycle in a straight line either. People don’t cycle in Auckland as it’s muggy and hilly and full of cars! I’d like to see e-bikes subsidised (although not in the way the e vehicle one worked, that just was a handout for the wealthy).

I cycle around Auckland. I'm probably one of the few that enjoys the hills. But as someone that grew up in a small town the cycling around a city is a bit daunting. I have a different view on the ride two a breast now. In smaller centres yes but in the cities with cars parked on the side and that there is more of a chance for cars going in both directions as well it really is pushing the limits on how the space can be used. Especially on the road bikes people use to ride around town as you feet are clipped in to the pedals so you need anticipate when you need to stop and look for hazards.

This is primarily why my riding is limited to early on the weekends or 7pm-8pm Monday - Friday & 6pm-8pm during daylight savings.

I don't ride to work there are a few reasons for that. I have a few work mates that do on E-Bikes. One when he rides past me at the round-a-bout I can see why it is popular. It would definitely be safer than a standard bike. I was at the bike store a few weeks back and the guy at the store asked me about e road bikes. I said my aim is to get fit and lose weight so like to do the work. He said he wasn't in favour of them but they had one to trial and said it felt a lot safer so that may soon be a new thing.

It is good seeing a lot of older people out on e-bikes.

ANZ have flinched first and have announced drops in interest rates for both it's deposits and, more importantly for those with mortgages, it's two and three year mortgage rates. They say they are doing it to relect recent changes in the longer term wholesale rates.

Expect the other banks to follow not to far behind.

Personally, I'd rather see a drop in the shorter 6 month and one year rates as it's better to lock those in when interest rates are falling and go for the medium to longer terms when the rates are rising.

The report is due at the end of the year, the work would already have been done.

The only motivation to push this under urgency is to prevent the report coming out.
Hopefully the report gets leaked.
This is a report on the efficiency of the tax system and was supported by the IRD.
