General Will we make the 8?

How awesome that we have not needed to create this thread earlier!!!

32 points should be enough to qualify.

We are currently on 20 and have two byes to come meaning we need to win 4/12 remaining games.

The last two years 38 points has enough to be top 4 (regardless of points diff) so that would mean we need to win 7/12.

As the table currently stands number of teams we play in each position
Teams 1 -6 - two
Teams 7-12th - four
Teams 13th - 17th -six

Still a long way to go and any nrl team can tip you up - but we are well positioned.

At this pt, just making the 8 would be disappointing. We don't know when we will have another year like this, so we have to make the most of our amazing position. At a minimum, 4th position is what we should look for. Based on past history of 38 pts, we need 7 wins. Our remaining 5 home games are against bottom 8 opposition. We should aim to win all those. Winning all those would get us 5 wins. Then we just need two more wins from our remaining 6 away games on the road. That's out of a pool of:

i)Sharks at Shark Park (rd 14)
ii) Brisbane at Suncorp (rd 17)
iii) Knights in Newcastle (rd 20)
iv) Dogs at Accor (rd 22)
v) Tits in GC (rd 25)
vi) Manly at Brookie (rd 27)

4 of those 6 are also against bottom 8 opposition. Given that we've won 5/6 in Aussie this year, I'd say the odds of that happening are pretty good. Having said that, none of these games will be easy given that each of these teams will be motivated to beat us. At the rate of their disintegration, Brisbane's season might be on the line when we play them. Manly in the final round might be to determine whether they make finals. Tits will be trying to avoid the spoon when we play them and there is still the specter of last years 66-6 debacle hanging over us.

Melbourne finished with the minor premiership last year with 42 pts I think, so that seems right. Brisbane might be playing for their season when we play them so I expect them to aim up big time against us like they did against the dogs.

Melbourne had 44 points but second place was 40 points so 42 is there abouts.

Lots can change across the rest of the season, so it should still be one game at a time.

100%. It’s great to be sitting near the top
Of the ladder and yes we should be enjoying how they’re playing but it can all change quickly. Not being a pessimist, but I agree it’s a long way to go and to not get too carried away as yet

One or two injuries and you are struggling to make the top eight.

Losing Barnett sent a wee chill of Ghost past down me spine.

I have allowed myself a couple of goes at the ladder predictor.

Fifth place finish is likely if all goes well with injury - which may not feel like a win from here, but would be an outstanding result.

It would be catastrophic if we don’t make the 8 from here.

It’s staying in the top 4.

That is question.

We are well covered in literally every position from 1 to 13 if injuries were to hit so i would put my money on yes we can

It's the fault of this thread that Barnett is out for the season (joke). We dreamed of making the top four and the injury gods smacked us down. Still all is not lost. And we are in with a shout and have momentum.

It’s up to the boys how they respond. Either they use this as motivation to play for Mitch and turn it up to another level or they let this loss get to them mentally and they struggle. It’s going to be tough against the other T4 teams ngl. I guess we’re playing with house money at this point.

Reckon we can get Mitchy in a trainer kit, when hes able to jog?

Even having him on field in that capacity would be immense.

Don’t know if he can jog in time this season but he can sit behind the goal post for pep talks when we concede, when we score they can huddle around him under the post, or at worst put a radio among players while he yells at players from the box

Chanel you c***…”😂

I don't care if he has to run the water in an electric wheelchair like Stephen Hawking, let's get him out there!
