Feel like Mark Grahams years were the closest we ever got to a genuine American sports style rebuild.

Big part of Ando's 01-03 run was Graham giving reps to young guys who probably weren't quite ready but because of the first grade reps were set up to experience success in Ando's time.

Tough balancing act though and setting foundations for the long term can cost a coach his job in the short term which is why you don't really see it here much.

American sports culture much more accepting of it, see the 76ers "trust the process" rallying cry, but bit of a foreign concept over here.

So we had a rebuild 20 years ago. Lol
I’ve been watching the Warriors religiously since 2002 and I don’t feel like there’s genuinely been one.

People are just happy to scrape into the finals. I’m fucking sick of that shit.

We’re not going to win the NRL in 2025.
You can hardly say we’re a solid bet for the finals.
So what are we actually losing by prioritising a rebuild. A thought out, sensible rebuild.
Which includes assessing player who a genuinely/realistically going to be here.

There’s nothing wrong with taking risks. Just don’t be stupid about it.

Did you even read the stats you quoted.

He played a 1/3 more games than TMM and had half the try assists, 1/3 line breaks, 1/3 line break assists and just over half the run metres.

In what world can you think he is anything but a depth player and that is at his absolute best, at worst he single handedly loses us games on his own

Have a listen to SJ break down his try involvements rather than try assists. He puts his body on the line by targeting the inside shoulder of the opposite second rower, thereby creating space for the outsides. As someone said above he is a solid role player, who is a good defensive half. I don’t see what upside Boyd brings. If you look at games in the Covid period where CHT was the dominant half, he produced more than what Boyd has.
My preferred pairing is TMM and Metcalf for what it’s worth.
The disdain for CHT always surprises me as I’m sure he would have no problem finding a back up role at another NRL club

American culture is to exceptionalize or deity legendary coaches. Take a cult movie like Hoosiers, they lose their version of the GF. The legend. Is in the story of the small, becoming contenders through character, through some socially engineered American dream bollocks.

The Atipodeans are the opposite, they talk you up when you are up, but unlike America the Antipodeans call for the coaches head at the first sign of trouble, past achievements forgotten.

But there are definitely areas of the game that CHT is streets ahead of TMM in.
