General Your 2025 team

Niukore after his suspension (utter bullshit) and then his injury never regained his previous form. Hopefully he is over his injury and overcomes the negative impact that his suspension caused and has a blinder.
Marata getting suspended is a sure thing but we have good young replacements to keep him on edge..

What is everyone excited to see in the trials?
A few years ago we saw Katoa kill it in the trials. Ford in 2023. I thought watching both at the time that they needed to be our starting 2nd rowers, Which did end up happening. I’ve also noticed that they have groomed Ale as a big motor, big minute forward in the trials, but that hasn’t eventuated into anything yet.
I’d love to see Halasima grab the reins of that uncertain 2nd row starting spot.

Has anyone else heard that Halasima has been training in the 13 role? Apparently has been distributing a lot and is also coming on to the ball very quickly when first receiver so that he is a run or pass threat. I can see the logic if true as it allows Martin and Metcalf to operate a bit wider with the likes of Capewell, Ali off their shoulder.
I do wonder who would be in the second row then though as I had Halasima there

Where'd you hear that, pretty exciting if he does get the nod for that role

If this works out it changes a lot - pretty exciting prospect if true

Hopefully he didn't hear it from his dad who had a dream
Also just read this in the Herald. Mentions Halasima but seems to lean more towards Clark

“We’ve got Dylan Walker, we’ve got Erin Clark, Erin Clark played for New Zealand this year, he had a great year at the Titans... we’ve got options there.

“Does a young guy like Leka step up? He can play back row, Leka, so he’s not necessarily a lock but I think the thing that Tohu brings is organisation. He’s very clear and calm in the middle... we’re not asking anyone who’s not ready to fill that void.

Clark and Walker probably will be Webby's picks. Leka looks our brightest young prospect this year though.

How are you measuring that?
Best field kicker - no
Best organizer - not much competition but still probably no
Best runner - yeah
Best at setting up others - no
Best at keeping medical staff busy - yes he is up there.
Best goal.kicker - no
Best at drop.goals - maybe I dunno

What do you think he is Best at?
From what I’ve seen all of the above. It’s pretty obvious the half next to SJ struggles to get involved, whether it’s Martin, CHT, Volkman looked invisible.
But I thought Metcalf offered the most when playing next to SJ.

If you go back and watch the 2 trials when Metcalf got game time at 7 I thought his organasing skills and kicking game was actually pretty good.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Demitric goes in the trials, think he would of had more first grade games by now if he didn't get injured in the '23 season and he's looking like an absolute unit in the pre-season pics I've seen. Seems he's pretty mature as well going off of the interview for his extension and how he's changed his name to honor his mother plus I love the aggression and physicality he brings.

Signed on the same length contract as JFH shows what they see for him, our two longest contracted. Now to see where they play him? Could pair an imposing front row combo with JFH? If they potentially seeing Halasima lock as mentioned earlier by a poster, could they see Vaimauga damaging on an edge? Seems like front row, with Laban edge and EIT to debut as an edge at some point? Zyon Maiu’u too looks like he’s an imposing figure out of these young forwards
