I don't agree that SJ was playing more sided in those first couple of rounds or at all the season any different to what we have seen recently. I think from TMM's broken leg last year onwards he has been more dominant and controlling with the ball than he has ever been. Saw some stats somewhere that his average receipts were 53 in 2022, 63 in 2023 and 64 in 2024. Also, TMM has slightly more contributions per game this season than Metcalf was having (and is doing more running at 6 than Metcalf was), so either LM wasn't doing anything with SJ playing more sided or SJ wasn't actually any different than he has been for the last 12 months or so. Or both of those things.

You do realize the coaches do a lot more than just pick the team, the problem with a lot of you on here is you have very limited knowledge and have never played the game so you have such simplistic and uneducated opinions.

It doesn't show that the injured players are the problem at all but someone with your limited abilities would probably think that.

That’s the whole catch of being a legend. You HAVE to play on. Look at every great athlete. 90% probably played 1 season too many, took one more fight than they should have.

I would love for Harris to take a couple of weeks off, relax, maybe play some cup. If we go deep in the season we will need him.

He’s still ultra competitive and incredibly crafty to still putting in the effort he does.

Reckon he'll be off till after the bye at least. Did his hand last season & they've been 'managing' it ever since & I reckon the 3 games in 2 weeks it got beyond managing...
Even a blind man could see he was busted but so are/were quite a few & more now.
We're going to see the younguns run out again and see whats happening after the bye. Exciting times but telling ones. The younguns may well rise to the occasion/s coming their way & that's great. Business end of the season, top 8 or not will require some old heads. Lets hope they get the mix right.
Webby is big on everyone doing their job (like Bellamy) and if they do (mostly did this past game) its always a chance - and that's nothing to do with rigid game plans btw, its individual effort. Think Barnett summed it up too in the presser - they all had gone away from exactly that.

Apart from a fast start we looked terrible from about the 14th minute onwards. Anything in particular you want me to focus on?

Looking back at my notes, we played fairly sided halves in r1, and then adjusted in rd2 to have sj more often at first receiver on the left and pushing Metcalf wider (which I thought was probably a good thing while Metcalf was there)

Anyone think Tohu needs to go to prop full time so we can have some energy at 13 all game. Walker really changed the game with his quick distribution in the middle.

I've been calling for this for a while. I think both player and club will get more value in 40 - 50 mins off the bench, he still has more than plenty to offer I just think the game is so quick now. But have him on after that initial softening up period and he'd create havoc with the right support

Like last year really? They got the rotation going pretty good.
No matter what opinions, right or wrong this year, injuries have creulled us. I hope the younguns stay injury-free.

The sin bin was quite crucial in the end. Gave us the opportunity to take the lead with two well taken tries that gave us a boost of confidence and belief just when we needed it. Putting that to the side, I do wonder what the difference was in this performance. A better balanced and utilised bench? Youthful enthusiasm? Busted players left out and 17 relatively fit players selected? A more varied approach to our play vs the single bomb to the corner? The players selected in certain positions providing a different but more effective contribution for our style of play and playmakers? - by that I mean our centres for example. Berry and RTS are not what I would call hole runners or a direct physical running threat. Having two wingers, two centres, two back rowers and our props all heading north to south while we had TMM and Walker playing across choosing their options on the back of that. I think Pompey and Ali have made up for what has been lacking a bit in our back row. If we go back to RTS and Berry there I fear we revert back to struggling again. Add in Capewell if he doesn't bring a running threat and it's worse again. Really shouldn't get carried away with one win but it will be very intriguing if a similar team beat the Dolphins this week. It also will be intriguing if that does happen whether AW is astute enough to decide if some or all the missing players come back in and balancing the team vs playing a known name player. (RTS being an obvious decision to be made considering AW convinced him to sign here).

I think Webby adjusted the game plan somewhat to get the best out of the players he was forced to select.
Some of whom are arguably more effective than those they replaced.
Perfect example is Dylan Walker.

Our line speed and cover defence was insane.

Well it’s going to be a similar line up this week.
If we beat the Dolphins and I expect us to just like I was excited when I saw our line up for yesterdays game Webby must surely keep some of the “fill ins”
