Unfortunately, we came up against a team fighting for their survival with a new coach to impress. The same could be said for the rabbitohs who have gained a new lease of life since their new (old) coach was announced for next season.
What about a team fighting for a potential spot in the 8, at home in front of a 'sell out crowd'? Where's the mentality at?

Last year we had options in attack, bodies in motion, fast free flowing passes. This year it has been lacking along with discipline and return of bad options.

We need to revamp how we want to play.

Wtf has happened to our defence from last year though! Its so fucking meek.
Bodies in motion is key to compressing defenders long enough to get them to turn in and fire the right pass to the correct runner at speed. It sadly has been horrendous how many times we've been called back for outside shoulder hitting etc. Discipline has been so weak when one or more players drop their bundles.

I'm all for a revamp of how we play. We need our Warriors identity to be at the core of how we play. Which is best on top of the massive platform Barney and Addin have set time and again.

If we revamp, we need to enforce heavy player rotation to minimise player injuries and keep everyone on the same page. Also to reduce workload having a cumulative fatigue effect throughout the season.

Our defence has broken because as has been pointed out clearly by outsiders......we are guilty of sipping our own kool-aid. We need to turn up every game switched on and locked in and we have been consistently shit.

Best part of that coverage was seeing HANGMAN & KAI….
Let’s go 305….

James & Mitch can sort this bunch out during offseason cos Weddy & co are struggling…
Let’s GONE AGAIN….!!!!

We keep playing this predicable safe and boring style of footy but we’re not even good at it.

It’s like we’re so focused on the proccess that we forgot what the goal is.

Look at how we played at the end. Yes the eels had given up and they were a man down but we looked for opportunities regardless of what number set it was.

All that mattered was was there a chance or not to score.

Boring and shit. The worst type of footy.

Might be worse
Sj might be our attack coach next yesr
Both SJ The Elder and SJ The Younger are not attack coaches I want at the Warriors, frankly.
Although if you told me it was have them as attack coach or defence coach, but I have to have them, one type or the other, I'd very grudgingly have them as an attack coach.

Once again, Great Player <> Great Coach....

It's a negative mindset for sure

Thats harsh. Every player speaks glowingly about Webster and the club. He is probably what we need, but do we have the players we need?

Do a review of all players sorted by salary in descending order. We arent getting enough bang for buck from players on the higher end. Those are the players who are paid to turn the game in our favour.

I tend to agree with this in part (although I think Webby does need to take a close look at himself).

Just look at what SJ dished up tonight (and all season). This is a guy who was supposed to be Dally M Medal winner last year - literally couldn't kick the ball.

I can't think of too many top halfbacks in the comp (even after an injury layoff) that would come out and slice most of his kicks.

Sadly, SJ this year has looked more like the SJ of 2022, that was a guy who had looked to have major skill regression and was on the verge of retirement. 2023 aside, what has changed?

Did anyone have us winning 5 of our next 15 games after the Rabbitohs demolition on their bingo card?

Surreal to think we arrived as a genuine premiership threat that day, all and sundry took notice - we were front page of the Aussie papers.

What a capitulation lol.

I don't understand how Leka went from the best debutant we have seen in years to either getting no game time or when he is on, hardly used.

Ali and MGTs inexperience shown up.... Signs from both over the season but tonight both were found out badly. Hope they can grow with some more experience.

How is almost the whole team making such basic handling errors. Did last season give our coaching staff over confidence in not drilling basic skills?

Too many questions and I have no fucking clue what the answers are. Next year is not our year based on this. We will not 'just miss the 8' because of the injury toll or bad luck, we were just no where near good enough. JFH is not going to turn this around.

Anyway I'm taking the rest of the year off, well the next month for the Warriors and the year because I can't find a shit to give for the what the NRL has turned into.

Peace out forum. See you next year!

There's always a bit of the crowd that leaves early - car parked miles away from the stadium, etc etc.
But this was the first time in quite a while the exodus has been so much and so obvious.
Of course, it's easier to tell there's an exodus when there's a decent crowd there to start with! In the crap seasons of 8-11 thousand crowds, the Mt Smart Walk was obviously still there, but wasn't as apparant as tonight's was.
The only funny part of it was I saw a few people in the East stand get up and walk out - and then rush back as we scored just as they were out the door...

Why?

This is one of the most embarrassing seasons in history.

Not saying he should go but he should be under the spotlight more. Seems to get a massive free pass.
Nope.
Most embarrassing season was probably 2000. 1997 sucked given how easy the competition really was.
This is bad, yep, nowhere near good enough, Webby needs to take some lessons (ie stop being nice to your senior players - SJ and TH have never looked impressive, should have been told it's bench or back up, be prepared to put an agreement with a player about position on ice - yes, CNK you were great at 1 last season but look, RTS's best position is 1 so let's go with that, so how it goes) but he showed faith in some younglings and we did have that good period beating the Panthers and Dolphins so....
If this season is embarrassing, it's embarrassing because for all the "professionalism" shown in public about "gotta show the Warriors respect", no team took us that seriously last year. Which speaks to their actual respect and professionalism. And too many of our players fell for it. Best seasons ever? They were allowed to have best seasons ever because the other team thought they were shit based on previous evidence. 2024 was always going to be the proof of the pudding, as they say.
Back to the kitchen, Webby.

Just watched the replay on tv I went to the Roosters/Dolphins game. I have nothing future to add to what has already been said. The only thing I will say and I apologise in advance if I’m wrong. But I’m glad that Bruce isn’t here to see this whatever we want to call this season. Heyzus……

Off to Europe tomorrow for a couple of months so will probably miss most of the aftermath of today.

Just gotta say, Eels game plan was defence, defence, defence while ours was FIIK.

As usual at home, we made a bottom team look premiers and ourselves look spooners.

I don't know the answer at this stage but it is looking to me that the dogs might have got the better deal depending on assistants.

Seasons gone and all that's left is pride and blooding some of the juniors. Reggies looked good.
Safe travels bro first and foremost. I’m not having a go,but this time last year we were all laughing at the Bulldogs thinking we’d gotten the better of the 2 Penrith ass. How things change in 12 months🤔🤷🏽‍♂️

A lot of webbys gameplan is eerily similiar to Kearneys gameplan. Last year we had options in attack, bodies in motion, fast free flowing passes. This year it has been lacking along with discipline and return of bad options.

We need to revamp how we want to play. We wont have AFB here next season to produce big numbers and take so many defenders back with each carry. Our halves options look bare. Lack of speed, this team aint getting on the outside of opposition.

Wtf has happened to our defence from last year though! Its so fucking meek.
Why don't we promote the football as much?

Why don't we promote the football as much?

It was so frustrating tonight and also last week (and a lot of the season) to see our middles get through the defensive line but for there to be no support at all. Not once.

Remember the days of Wade Mckinnon screaming past the tackler every hitup he could - just waiting for someone to poke their nose through and offload the ball.

I counted at least 4 solid tackle breaks, full on through the tackle, no support - just no body. None of those attempts required anything than a standard offload or even pass if there was a body there.

Where the fuck is the support? Are we being coached not to support? It's just so weak. We are literally breaking down the defensive line.....and then taking the tackle.

You have a VERY short memory.

It's his second year. He can't help if we have huge stints of injuries throughout the year.

Has he been perfect? No. But he's far from the worst coach in the NRL at the moment. Besides, who are you gunna replace him with?
Who is worse? He just made Trent Barrett look good. He might be great technically but we weren't up for that fight, the weeks eels withstood out 15 minute opening attack like everyone does and then out enthused us.
Not wanting to replace him (unless Bellamy is coming) but questions need to be asked.
