Tough game to watch, too many errors and moments of ill-disclipline before we tightened up in the last 20 minutes. I’d expect us to tighten up in those areas as its a key part of our gameplan. Boyd needs to run more, he looked capable when he did.

Regardless of what happens for the rest of the season, its been a successful one. We are blooding in those young forwards and they’ll be better equipped for next year where we should be capable of contending if we can stay healthy.

Our attack is a worry because we have no effective set moves and have not developed any all season.

5 minutes to go and down by a try we all know we have nothing.

It’s why it doesn’t change anything if an organising half like Boyd comes in, we will not practice organising shape around him. We spend all week training defence instead

Webby ball is all defence and hoping individual plays can fluke a few tries.

Painful to watch but has got us in the top 4 I suppose!

I thought the game against dolphins was encouraging because I thought we played with some shape and stripped some teams for numbers, unfortunately the result didn’t go our way

How do you think Ford would go with two twenty minute segments per game?
I reckon his error rate would be greatly reduced.
He has a great motor -I have gone from critic to fan.

I think his motor is over rated. He always looks gassed after 50 minutes and his inept PTB error came last night towards the end of his spell. I think he is ok and NRL standard as a bench impact prop for 40 minutes. I would probably play him 40 minutes straight to save an interchange rather than two 20 minute stints.

1) No one else has posted this yet but it seemed like this was the first game in 8 years where we told our wingers not to Jam. This led to fewer tries conceded yet two given up to a centre vs Pompey one to one face off. This was a coaching initiative and Dallin did some great work on his wing by staying put on the sideline and we refused to give up the back breaking try.

I agree and I think Webster agrees based on how Ford was used when Barnett and Fish were both fit. Even by memory Webster preferred Marata to start over Ford after Barnett was injured but recently had to start Marata in the second row.

Really like Vaimauga’s ball playing, he’s getting better and better. Would have had a try if weren’t for the goal post, those bursts look like they’re going to be hard to contain

Yet, we’ve maintained a top 4 spot for the majority of the season.

When you look at our points differential compared to the teams around us, we’ve really become grinding specialists being how we’ve got our wins all season. Great battle between Pompey and Feagai. Feagai got the first half over him but Pompey experienced enough to fix what’s needed at gets the second half over him. Deeper issue is the right edge in general though, I think it’s why TMM will come back next week. Really frustrated with Ford, same errors in ptb week on week and for those saying on too long, some were not long after halftime so shouldn’t be fatigued. We look a team down on confidence and hopefully that win gives some belief. CHT’s hit on Flanagan woke us up, he had a great game

Went for the all or nothing play in that try scoring opportunity too and came away with nothing. It’s tough because I respect his effort, but his errors and discipline continually puts us under pressure

Was that a top 4 attacking performance? He'll no.
Was it a top 4 defensive effort? I think yes.
The scramble and commitment we showed for each other was immense albeit a Dragons team losing players but we are stretched too.
I thought defensively Ford was huge Dal, Chanel, Charnze Vaimauga all tackled their best they went scorless in the second 40.
We are still clunky in attack, the structure has gone out window but we are only one pass or link from getting close with Taine running very beautiful lines Ford and Vaimauga nearly going in!
Ford,Jfh, & leka among others had butter fingers but the effort was clearly there, better to be clunky now and still win than in the finals I feel that we need to stick with Boyd and just work that next pass/build him moving forward no point chopping and changing now give him the keys but Healey is also a key component too.

Once again apart from the odd lunatic the majority here have already stated it wasnt a great performance.

I think i see the issue tho....you still actually think we should win the Grand Final with the squad we have ....your not the only one tho. But it is funny seeing the toys get thrown out of the cot when this team inevitably dont reach those standards. I accepted this at the start of the season hence why despite the form of late to be in the position were at is a massive over achievement in my books.

But good luck if u think a halves pairing of Tannah Boyd and Chanel Harris Tevita are going to take u to the promised land.

We have the worst attack in the top 8 (top 10 actually), our wins and position had been built on the back of good defence and a high completion rate hence the grinding nature of our games. The continuous injuries to key players and disruption that causes have eroded those basics and we dont have probably the class in other areas to compensate.

And thats not a knock on Webby. He can only play the cards he was dealt and tbf it was working for him until the injuries really started mounting.

Spot on mate whoever is in charge of our defense this season give him his flowers now as we are a genuine top 4 team defensively, even with tremendous leaks like Capes pomps and Dal but Webster can juggle and plug now we're losing players.
