Post Match Warriors v Dragons - [Round 24, 2025]

🤖 AI Summary

📝 Summary:

Warriors fans express relief at defeating the Dragons to secure a top-4 finals spot, though the win is widely criticized as ugly and unconvincing, with members #7 #8 #33 calling it one of the club's worst victories. Concerns dominate discussions about inconsistent player form—Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck earn praise for strong carries #58 #34, while Jackson Ford, James Fisher-Harris, and Pompey face scrutiny for errors and penalties #54 #71 #87. Broader team challenges include inefficient attacking structures #24 #42, questionable bench rotations #46 #60, and doubts about playoff competitiveness against elite teams #23 #71. Despite the criticism, one member #114 argues the Dragons were resurgent opponents and highlights defensive resilience in the final quarter, crediting improved middle-forward efforts. Others debate Backline experimentation #80 #126, though consensus remains that the win's significance outweighs its flaws for finals qualification #15 #53.

Most folk are brain dead, nice win ? ugly win ? It does not matter. The warriors are a confidence team, if they string a few wins into the finals, steel up. They will be hard to beat

Do you guys remember the game where we had Michael Witt and Grant Rovellli ? As our halves.....

We have had a unfortunate issue with combinations towards the back end of the season, which is always gonna make any attacking side to convert to points a problem.

The difference between last week and tonight, Boyd needs to play out the season regardless of the outcome, it was so easy to see how much more impact he had on the game taking the ball to the line and running shapes outside to our wingers.

Healy coming on, i would near say is change of play, won us the game. Egan is the shit. But Healy fresh and on point. Sign this guy up.

TMM as much i like the guy, he is not the answer for our halves into the finals.

Win or lose tonight we aren’t winning the gf, the way I see it, if we can scam 5th or 6th (we won’t hold onto 4th) and somehow make it to the Second week of finals that’s a good building block. 2 points is 2 points at this time of the year. You often learn as much from these sort of games as you do a loss.. swings and roundabouts, we played well against the Phins and lost, played awful tonight and won. We are 4th and snapped a losing streak, crack a smile you wet blankets

Disgusting, diabolical, unethical win.

And before you say “a wins a win I’ll take it”, I’d almost prefer NOT to take this win it was that bad.*

The worst “top 4” side ever bro 😭

*edit: because we didn’t deserve to win, fact.
Yeah, but over the years we've lost games we deserved to win, so...

I'd rank that as - even although, obviously as a Warriors fan I had some emotion invested in the game - one of the crappiest, we-can't-be-arsed-to-win/we-don't-know-how-to-win games I've ever seen. Absolutely not the kind of game you show someone to introduce them to The Greatest Game Of All.

We have got to, for Gawd's sake, get Adam or someone who's better than 75% accuracy doing the kicking.

Felt for the Dragons a bit as they had those 3 Haitch-High-Hayes during the game but I'm sure we've suffered similar over the years...

The best thing about tonight is, frankly, that that was not the Warriors at their bestest.

If it was, we'd be fighting for that Pikelet Making Tool ie The Wooden Spoon...

Come on now. You sure about that?
I see alot of disappointed people in here.
Are people really surprised with the performance?
After the talk all week about our injuries and last man standing ?.
But we win and its not good enough... no pleasing some people... .

AND I HAVE EVERY RIGH TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT THE MENTAL HEALTH OF SOME FANS ON THIS FORUM STILL UPSET OVER A WIN.
I think context needs to be added around the "win"

They were playing with no bench forwards from the 30th minute.

Two of their 19 year old forwards played the full game pretty much.

They were clearly the better team but just ran out of gas at the end due to no rest.

I don't think it takes a genius to identify that we will be out in straight sets come finals (and probably don't win another round robin game). That's where the disappointment lies.

I don't think anyone is disappointed about collecting two points.

A lot is sad unhappy buggers in here.

I’m celebrating like it’s the last win of the season. We got Tits Parra Manly. Could lose all 3 and week one of the finals so might as well enjoys the win for what it’s worth….

Just finished watching, very ugly win but stoked the boys got the 2 points.

Like others here I think a lot of the right edge problems are starting with Niukore, he should go back to the middle and we can put someone that is a better defender.

Also out of interest here is the 'interesting' bench rotation:

But last thoughts, even if we limp into the finals and get knocked out early the finals experiences will be huge for the young guys and we can build into next year.

I'm of the firm belief Vaimauga should start over Ford, he actually had a lot of impact coming off the bench earlier in the season.
Halasima and Capewell 2nd Row.
Niukore for TSS on the bench.
EIT to keep his spot for his versatility.

How can you get excited with that win? What is it because we got 2 points wowee or is it we are back to 4th yipee. The aim is at this stage to be playing like we are heading to a grand final then win one for once.We are a long dusty road from that Hey I'm happy we finally won another game but hey let's get real that performance will do nothing to be at the dream finale

Another frustrating watch, they came right at the end, but another top 4 team would have taken them to the cleaners and lets not forget the Dragons lost 3 players. Tana Boyd showed he's the right guy to have at half given who the Warriors have available. If nothing else, his kicking is superior to anyone else and its a critical part of the modern game. Why he wasn't picked for a wet game last week beats me.
Anyway, I'll give them 6/10 for this game but they need to improve rapidly.
At this stage who cares though? We need to just make the finals first.

We have been absolutely smashed by injuries, who knows what could happen in the finals, but at least we broke that slump, I actually didn't care how.

This is what I remind myself. Where did we actually think we were going end up, at the start of the year?

No SJ.
No Tohu.
AFB gone.
Walker gone.
Etc.

Yet, we’ve maintained a top 4 spot for the majority of the season.

And that's a good thing. Constructive critisism allows you to improve. Burying your head in the sand and saying we are good coz we won is not. You should always be looking to improve. Pretty much the Storm model...high standards.
Lol apart from the odd lunatic who's burying their head in the sand? I think the overwhelming majority on this thread alone while glad we got the points have recognized that was not a good performance last night.

As per the quote above weak players performances and deficiencies across the team get pointed out pretty fast on here......it seems some were worried that wouldnt be the case haha
