Or play for a local club, good for ticket sales or give back to the grassroots and be on standby for injuries

Fairly average performance.

Conditions weren't easy for either side.

7 errors from the Broncos inside opening 20 mins...

it was even worse in nsw cup. I think between minutes 38-39 there was an error in 6 consecutive sets.

You need effort in the NRL to compete - we saw what happened last week without it.

But, my issue with the back 5 is it is mostly effort on effort on effort on effort - you need more than that

Looking at the major attribute of the back 5:

CNK - Effort
DWZ - Speed / Finishing
RTS - Effort / Legend status
Pompey - Effort / Goal kicking
Montoya - Effort

This is too much effort. We simply must move to the below

1. Taine - Speed / play making
2. DWZ - Speed / finishing
3. MGT - Speed / ball playing
4. CNK - Effort
5. RTS - Effort / Legend status

Consistency will yield results long term. The youth showed up really well

“There’s obviously a lot of question marks around Shaun Johnson at the moment. His body is obviously starting to fall apart.

“I look at the team when those two guys (Martin and Harris-Tavita) are at No.6 and No.7 and they just seem to fall into their roles and the responsibilites.

Meninga believes “it’s going to be very difficult to get SJ back into the team.”

Thankfully for Webster he has a few more weeks before he needs to make his big halves call. By that time he may have no choice but to stick with their current partnership.

To me, you keep SJs recovery at a conservative pace. Really give him time to get that peck in order.

Give him time to not just work out the niggles, but actually heal them.

If he's still got that spark in him, really give it every opportunity to get back to 2023 condition.

Otherwise, make a bronze statue out the front of MSS and give him a halves coaching role.

It sure is, but isn't a win against the odds good enough for you, where you can stand back and accept it after the emotional flogging we all experienced last week. Don't forget the players felt that way too last week..
