We didn’t get hammered and at 20–12 we were still a chance.
Broncos are a team on the up, just like Penrith last week and we were not disgraced in either.
I thought on balance our forwards gained parity mostly.
But Metcalf aside who out of our backs would make the Broncos 13.
Karapani, Arthurs, Staggs and Shibasaki in particular have been epic.
Yeah agree

Remember the Warriors when we used to capitulate in the last 20mins when things didn’t go our way?

Not anymore

We managed to defend a number of repeated attacks by the horses and held our ground

We should be proud of the boys for that

For me

A bias ref, Ed Kosi and some bad luck was probably the only difference between us

Fucking Ed. Missed two try scoring opportunities. AWOL on the Bronco tries and fumbled the ball when we were in a prime spot to attack. I counted FIVE crucial plays he fucked up on. FIVe too many in my books..

Agree with a lot of above but we’ve got very defensive minded of late.
Thort we showed a bit more aggression in that 2nd 1/2 once Leka came on. Had a couple of tackle break/ offloads and our attack just looked a bit better. I rate Laban but he doesn’t look as attack minded as Leka. Webby needs to figure out how to have Leka, Erin, Capewah and Demi on the field more. Demi to start at prop??

All the pregame was about a Broncos push for a top 4 spot.

Against Penrith all the talk was about them saving their season.

We were poor against the Panthers and deserved to lose. Today the ref had a massive impact. Would we have won with a neutral ref, probably not with key injuries but we did compete for periods and a couple of decisions going our way might have made a difference.

If the injuries are bad then TMM and CHT going forward. Taine had to come in on one wing, RTS (MOM today) back to FB. Jazz's auntie on the other wing.

Anyway moving on. Go the Phins.

The start of the game really set the tone. Mistake in the first set, couldn't back it up by defending our line.

Now we wait on the scans for the two knee injuries.

Metcalf already listed as a suspected ACL. If it isn't that serious he still will be out for a while. If it is an ACL really feel for the guy as he was finally getting a good run of games together. An ACL this late in this season means he won't be seen again on the field until late next season if we are lucky. Sam Walker and Brandon Smith are only just coming back.

Let's hope CNK's is on the less serious side. Two major knee injuries in one game is really unfortunate.

I think part of Boyd's staying with us was on the basis that he would be next in line for the number 7. TMM would only replace CHT or remain a utility.

Brutal thing sport, one person’s misery is another’s opportunity. Boyd gets his chance when all our halves come off contract next year and TMM this year. Still pretty raw to consider it but negotiations with Metcalf now need to be considered that he hasn’t been able to get through a season since arriving and has a tendency for serious injuries

Yeah mate I hate resorting to ref blaming but something just felt off in this game, like Gee was only reffing one team and was looking for reasons to blow the whistle against us. Fully admit that we weren't at our best but it's hard to compete when it seems that it's not a level playing field.

He is competent player
He s not a flashy star type player
His kicking game will impress
A steady Eddie really

But for our halves to shine
We need our props perhaps to do a wee bit more - underwhelming today and last week
I think our game plan alters a touch losing Metcalf and the difference in player that Boyd is. We were carrying a utility on the bench in TMM, I think we now carry a back up hooker in Healey and we rely on go forward from our forwards and impact from Healey around the ruck to assist Boyd. They’ve actually got a few possibilities between TMM, CHT and Boyd. TMM and CHT looked good in a brief pairing last year, Boyd and TMM looked good, still unseen Boyd and CHT paired together

When teams take it to us, we wilt.
To me it seemed similar to the 2023 final. Big crowd and we were under the pump and at times we were struggling to contain them.

Willison for example when he came on was causing us all sorts.

Hopefully, with the young forwards we have coming through we can do that to teams in a year or two. Run over the top of sides with aggression.
