TMM was shit at 6 and everyone could see that.
Been a revelation at 7 which I applaud 👏
TMM has always been a good fg player but wasn't able to find that form until moving to 7.
TMM is the man. But, Needs to sort out his left to right pass or our one weapn on the wing will see no ball.
I just don't understand what has happened to Shaun. and that is not a call for everyone to make posts pointing out he is getting old etc as I have read all your posts, but none of it adds up.
He's only a year older than his incredible form of last year. It's not age. Lacks the pace of SJ of old. But he became the leader & playmaker we've been looking for.

Playing with multiple injuires & not giving them time to heal is his main problem. Brain is wanting to achieve many things, But his body is telling him to get f*cked.

I hope he can get back to full fitness, And be ready to replace one of our halves if injuries occur. I don't want it to end like this for SJ. He is my personal greatest Warrior of all time. An athlete like I've never seen before. His youtube highlight reel is one of the most watched clips on YouTube (Rugby & League)

But if it's his time to hang up the boots. I hope we all appreciate how important he was to the club. And the smiles he brought to us fans.

Father time and injuries don't explain the daft way he is playing.
TMM and CHT are not doing nothing special. They are just running shapes and putting one foot in front of another.
SJ is trying selfish hero bar plays where he tries to set up the try all by himself instead of using team work and getting the whole team involved like TMM and CHT do. When TMM and CHT run the cutter we attack the try line as a 13 man unit. When Shaun runs the cutter we attack the try line either with one out hit ups by forwards or Shaun doing a solo effort then him attempting to put a runner through a hole for a try. It is all about him.
What does that have to do with age? What does that have to injuries? It has nothing to do with any of those things.
Shaun is 33 while DCE is 35
Shaun is not too old to be a half.
He just seems to have completely lost the plot of how to be half in the NRL.
One final point is that he stands quite shallow at first receiver and the rush defence often shuts him down.
Both TMM and CHT stand very deep and have time to operate.
What does standing deep or shallow have to do with age or injuries. They have nothing to do with it.

Everyone this year knows SJ will go right and put a extra man on that side!

Mate you're going way deeper on it than is necessary.

A poster last week likened it to Thurstons final season.

Thurston would have struggled to make a reserve grade side in his final year.

It happens.

While I agree with you Wrighty if you go back and look at the games earlier in the year when TMM was at 6 he was very deep and not wide. At least a few times Egan at dh was waiting for him to catch up with the play.
Was a very strange play.
AW said when he went to 7 due to SJ injury he was wanting TMM to become more involved.
Don't read anything differently into that.
That's what happened.
The difference has been great 👍

I don’t think we should be questioning the hunger of guys like SJ and Tohu. They want to win a prem for this club more than anyone else on the planet.

It’s just that both have been battling chronic injuries that have impacted their training and performance all year. At that age, being on limited training takes an edge off your game, and playing through pain is unsettling. We saw what these guys could do when fully fit last year; this year they just haven’t been fully fit.

If they didn’t have the hunger they would likely have pulled up stumps by now, or taken extended rehab periods rather than fighting on.
Writing off these two club legends is premature. Anything can happen. And usually does.

That said - SJs prior comments about potentially going to Vegas in a blue shirt is telling. If TMM and CHT carve up over the next 4-6 weeks, it’s going to be hard for him to come back into the side - form matters.

Same for Tohu with Walker being so much more effective at 13 with TMM at 7.
25 minutes off the bench could be his go moving forward. We appear to be already transitioning the Captaincy to Mitch. 2024 is seeing the changing of the guard in real time.

The glaring problem is our small middle forwards and how to mitigate the strategy of the opposition to target minute 25-50 and overwhelm us.

A question to ask is why Webster doesn’t have the same confidence in Ale and Afoa to fill that gap consistently. And yet he does with Ford who is effort but has a guaranteed 3 errors and/or penalties a game.

People keep talking about the next generation - Sifakula, Laban, Halasima, Mainuu etc. But two send offs and a binning in cup should give you the answer - albeit one was unfounded. Calm heads under pressure are required and we have proven our young guys aren’t there yet.

We move onto the Dogs away. This is must win - especially now that the Cows are beating the Panthers late.
Staying in the fight is more important than ever. What a ridiculously tight comp.

So an impact prop with zero impact. What waste of time.

But above you have Walker at 13?!?

Required for what? This grand theisis would be good if we won with SJ/Tohu reprising their roles, but we haven't been. I would rather lose cos Laban got binned than lose cos Tofu cant get on the right side of the ruck.
