General Warriors Preseason 2025

Are people seriously already questioning JFHs work ethic? Bloke has just gone to the grand final, played internationals, and got married.

I thought I was a cynic but gee whiz some of you take the cake!
I know you mean well and your heart is in the right place but your post is the biggest strawman post I have ever read since I have been on this forum and I joined 6 years ago.

I think that's the point.

JFH needs to be around these younger guys as much as possible. A lot of his value lies in the culture he will set.

Because otherwise, like for like, he's a less talented/productive player than AFB.
AFB is a freak, he has such a heavy and strong centre of gravity that he virtually never gets dominated.
I think the hope is that JFH has the mana, work ethic and commitment to turn some of our young ones into diamonds, while doing a decent job.
JFH is a good prop, will do a job and is probably not hugely dissimilar to Barnett but no AFB.
The only players better than JFH that I would choose to replace AFB, would be Tino, Tapine, Haas (Haas is borderline because he lacks the leadership). So considering we got a top 5 prop, who will model love and commitment to the club that will be only rivalled by the great Warriors of the past, we have to be happy.

First person to post a pic of him in Warriors colours gets Kudos and much thanks from the whole forum.

Some interesting tidbits out of Warriors pre-season so far: The days have been long and much of the focus has been on rebuilding that goal-line resilience and working on icing opportunities when they present. Webby says they've stuck with 80% of what they did previous pre-seasons, but 20% is different. Apparently, there's been a lot of ballwork early on this pre-season and it's all being done at speed. The intensity has been high. No standouts in the group yet, but the young-gun cohort (Demetric, Ali etc) have been impressive. Looks like Ali and DWZ on the right side and Pompey and RTS on the left, though RTS has also been running as the opposing fullback in match simulations. They break for Christmas, but go back on Jan 3, earlier than usual because the trial games have been moved forward next year.

I am very worried about our halfback whoever that may be. Can't help but feel that will hold us back so much next year. It could cost us a lot of games.

No different to 2024 then. We had plenty opportunities but weren't able to capitalise and some weaker goal line defence at times too.

I think next year will be closer to 2023 though. Our halves aren't seen as being in the top and I think it will be hard to predict who plays which could make us more of a threat as they won't know our game plan for scoring tries. Also I see expectations have dropped massively too compared with 2024. I think we could be in for a bounce back.

Who is running at full back? CNK mainly or Taine?
