The boys being back at training they have a lot better weather for pre season compared to last off season.

Last summer was pretty much only good for training for wet weather football. Amazing how well they did in Australia where a lot of the time the conditions were the exact opposite.

Warriors nominated for the Halberg Awards Team of the Year!
How good is that - even if we don't win, great recognition for the club and what has been achieved in 2023 after the covid years. Captured the country's attention!
Don't know if Oz has an equivalent but doubt an NRL club would figure in it - maybe a SOE team or the Kangas?
Is this a first? Have the kiwis been nominated at some point?
Anyway, awesome.

Must be favourites for this, who are the other nominees?

Team of the Year

All Blacks (rugby), All Black Sevens (rugby sevens), Black Ferns Sevens (rugby sevens), New Zealand Warriors (rugby league), Women’s K4 500m (canoe racing)

Juno is talking about the Supreme Award which is awarded to one of the winners of the regular awards ie Team of the year winner Vs Sportsman of the year Vs Sportswoman of the year

The warriors didn't win anything, they are not getting the Halberg. They got to the pointy end and got smoked.
ABs didnt win either but got further. Think the women's teams listed all did ok but haven't checked.
And any team can get beaten by any individual category winner - so yeah, long odds.
Should have a people's vote lol.
Still, think its a first for RL? And an acknowledgement at least to be in the running

Haha, it's the facts you butthurt sheila's. Kiwis should get it this year.
Next year is our year!
It's not facts if it hasn't been announced yet. Kiwis aren't even a finalist.
The rest of the Team of the year finalists are very weak. I don't think any of the rugby teams should win it, and I know nothing about K4.
I'm sure the halberg judges have a number of criteria to consider, one of which will surely relate to the reception by and impact on the general public, which the Warriors have had the best result, hands down.

They should rename the Halbergs the "New Zealand Colonial British Empire elitist class system awards".
They basically give it to sports from the English private Schools (they call them public schools).

King Charles would be proud of all the Rugby, Rowing, Sailing, Cricket, golf, Equestrian, squash, Tennis, Skiing winners wot wot.

Great thing about most of those sports is poor people can't even access them 🙄

It's facts that we came 3rd in a competition with 16 teams. While this was a great achievement for perennial underachievers and we, as dedicated fans, should celebrate it, it is just a step in the right direction and IMHO not worthy of a national award.
