Would seem like Webbys preference is still to have CNK at FB next year or could just be some smoke snd mirrors to end the season
But given the ongoing narrative over which of Tuivasa-Sheck or Nicoll-Klokstad is best suited to fullback, coach Andrew Webster again outlined that this week’s switch is not for good.

“We lost two centres this week,” said Webster. “He’s not [been] dropped or anything like that.

“We’ve got Taine sitting there, who’s a really good player. I just want to make sure we’ve got a really good 17. He can certainly play centre better than Taine can. I just want to put the team on that I think can win this week.

“There’s not a lot behind it. This isn’t a positional switch where he’s going to become the centre.

“It’s just one of those things this week.”

Webby, don’t elaborate man.
You already put yourself into a corner this year with the FB chat.
No need to keep doubling down.

Everyone whizzing themselves over the possibility of getting Tommo but ignoring the fact we need to recruit backs.. 🤷🏻‍♂️
I certainly agree with you that signing outside backs should be the priority, but there are none. No one decent anyway, who would realistically come here.

However, we have a bit of turnover in the forwards in the next year or so. AFB is being replaced by JFH.

What about Tohu………… Erin Clarke? An elite top 3 positional player, positional dally m winner (I know he won second row) and his potential replacement in Erin Clarke? No………

Leo Thompson however…….. again not really Tohu level, but that’s a bit more like it, young too. Those sorts of replacements don’t come up every day.

Just for shits and giggles lets have an Origin level pack and bench but Kingston Rovers level back line. What could possibly go wrong>

Any backline with Pita Hiku in it is OK by me. Lol. GF bound this year the Robins.

On recruitment, a guy Sully might've taken a punt on or brought over on a train and trial is Allan Fitzgibbon from the Bears who is pretty rapid and score tries for fun in NSW Cup.

At 25 he's a bit old but it was definitely more his chequered off field history than lack of talent why we haven't seen him in the NRL.

I think if we play smarter the missing speed factor volume gets turned down.
Smarter means not one dimensional.

It’s always been said defence wins comps, and this year our D has been rubbish. Have we missed Rocco Berry more over the back half of the season than realised?

The Roger positional debate is a distraction. His assets are running the ball back and beating the first defender.
I think a season on the wing next season could bear fruit.

Yea, one part of Berry game the defence with him is solid, and his kick chase is really strong.

I guess if CNK does have a strong game in centers then it gives Webby something to ponder, in particular if Taine is strong snd finishes the game injury free.

With RTS, Id personally have him train pre season soley at Wing and cover FB and kiss bye bye to centers. As this means no Montoya (who is a good guy but just pisses me off when he plays recently). Have him for one more year, gives a bit of safety net should an injury strike st the back. Then who knows Japan rugby from end of 2025
