I think if we play smarter the missing speed factor volume gets turned down.
Smarter means not one dimensional.

It’s always been said defence wins comps, and this year our D has been rubbish. Have we missed Rocco Berry more over the back half of the season than realised?

The Roger positional debate is a distraction. His assets are running the ball back and beating the first defender.
I think a season on the wing next season could bear fruit.

This is definitely the take.

I would bet the house that if we halved our defensive errors and handling errors we would be in the 8.

The other distraction this year was the negativity around the corner-bomb-kick-chase strategy (yes the strategy that absolutely dominated the Storm until we Warriorsed it late).

That strategy was and continues to be a terrific way to win games. But, only if you do not immediately give away penalties and fail to defend them.

Great player.
But.
He’s not an attacking threat.
He’s improved every year. Has had a revolving door of halves partners, and has played rugby league for 5 years. Needs more time & less injuries. He’s had a disrupted year this year but you could start to see his potential. He runs an awesome line & is fantastic defensively. Crichton is rated as the best centre in the game, 80% of this is because of his defence. He’s the best in the comp. Defence is very important. Especially for the warriors.

Yes the old potential debate
Been hearing his potential since the dawn of time
Not arguing that’s he’s not a smart and strong defensive player

Fact remains
He’s not an attacking threat.

Plus he’s prone to injury.

All that being said
I’d have him over Pompey and RTS
But not my guy Ali 😉 😘

Alec McDonald (aka the chin) is from Auckland and looks like a great prospect, would be happy to throw a biggish contract his way to attract him back, confident it will reap dividends.
Who? and biggish contract. no thanks. would much prefer mulitalo

Volkman ain't coming back.

He was let go because we didn't deem him good enough.

If the powers at be thought he was a long-term option they would have found a way to keep him
Think his shoulder injury was his downfall because he was the best halfback in nsw cup until that occurred. Hanson promoted then? Because it would be a mistake to go into the season with just TMM, Metcalf and CHT as our only halves next season
