We were clearly nervous since 0-3 is hard to come back from. I am also putting some of our clunkiness in attack to the missing personnel in the spine, both before and during this game. Nevertheless I always felt we controlled the game but our ill-discipline and mistakes gave the Raiders a sniff. We beat the Raiders at their own game: we outgrinded them in a truly ugly fashion.

How epic was Barnett tonight? Looked like he was involved in every tackle.
Great win! They probably/definitely blew a couple of tries.
Agree whole heartily, a bit surprised Rocco didn't pass the ball to DWZ instead he dummied to him and tried to go through the gap but got tackled quite easily - missed opportunity but then if he had passed to DWZ and he didn't score - I would've gone " why didn't he dummy and gone...never satisfied - I'll leave to all the experts and keep the trap shut and just enjoy the game - WAHZ forever!!!!

It has already been said, but even though it wasn't a great performance per se, we were missing a lot of of first-choice players - still got the job done. I'm generally a pretty harsh critic, but beating a team off the back of two good performance by 8 with a number of key players missing... that shows guts.

I'm really excited to see CNK at fullback and RTS at centre, I think it will be dynamite.

The NRL have just announced that there will be a new official in the Bunker next week against the Knights.....

Shoutout to those sensible bros who stopped the pitch invasion after the Metcalf try, a bunch of fans lost their heads in the excitement and tried to go and kiss Dallin by the look of it, could have been embarrassing. I thought the whole stand was going to collapse at one point such was the euphoria.
Drummers were awesome too, like a pounding heartbeat throughout the game at exactly the right times.

Enjoyed the game. Canberra were intense. We did well to beat them when understrength. I'll reserve my stinging comments for the match officials on another thread on another day.

People keep trying to say RTS back to FB. But damn he's an awesome center. Will only get better. Not many can stop Timoko on a good day, so I forgive him for that. Berry is a good lad. What a combo. I'm excited to see how both progress.

Feel for Taine. He didn't look affected. Would love to see the processes employed for these HIA. Doesn't make sense.

Rapana wasn't contesting the ball. He had lost the contest and failed to get out of the way. That ruling was inconsistent. The commentators knew it. Why didn't bunker? This happens almost every game.

I propose that every time bunker pronounces a decision, that they quote the rulebook and explain their decision from there. It's not hard to be consistent.

We need Maiuu to succeed this year. We can't rely on Niukore, he gets suspended and HIA a lot. Bunty and Barnett are not having the impact AFB offers, and as we know, our intensity drops when he's off.

Watching Sticky, he was incredibly controlled in presser. Good on him. He's got a good team. Maybe not the most talented, but they play hard footy.

All in all I am pleased.

Our record to start the year isn't surprising. Looking at our first 3 games they were always going to be tough.

We traditionally aren't great in round 1. We looked good for parts but got punished as we didn't a full 80.

The Storm we haven't beaten for so long you could make jokes on what technology didn't exist back then.

This game after their come back last year and the fact they have been pretty consistent the last few year meant this one was winnable but not a gimme. Add in our traditional poor record in NZ away from Mt Smart.

The main thing now is to build and pick up wins.

Ricky was barely holding on - was anxiety inducing watching him head down sequentially pressing his fingertips together while whitehead took the questions - this guy is going to explode... like you say actually decent of him not to... then coach and cap come on for ours, and it's back to the ol comedy and philosophy routine, amzing contrast that
