The extension of Boyd must have been prioritised by the club and i suspect the Metcalfe issue may have been surfacing since he returned back from injury. I wonder if him and his manager were caught off guard when he returned and he was played at 6 instead of 7....maybe expecting Tannah to be dropped upon his return. Kudos to Webby he stuck to his guns.

Metcalfe is a good player but he is not indispensable..not like a Moses or Cleary or Munster. I have a hunch we may see very little of him in a Warriors jersey again. Good luck to him. H

So Gould doesn’t know much about Metcalf, injury status or anything actually, starts at 15:26.
Didn't know that he had played this year. Didn't know his injuries.

If he didn't know he played this year he isn't much of a rugby league analyst. I know we don't get much Channel 9 coverage. But, he has a great life, clipping the ticket from a number of companies to do with rugby league. One job is to watch games and comment on the competition.

Paul Kent joked about people trying to scout where the meeting between Gould and Metcalf would happen over Magic Round. The next day, he referenced that it won't be over the weekend. His understanding it had already happened.

If Metcalf has left for Sydney, then he has likely talked to a few clubs already.

Gould would have asked him on his fitness and would be aware of his goals and current situation. He might want to play ignorant due to the new rules around what the media personalities can say. You can still be aware that he played 1 and a bit games after an ACL injury.

Sounds like he’s right over his target thus playing dumb and dumber to protect his deal….

It’s pretty likely his trip to AKL was for Mets

@Noitall what are the dogs forum saying? Are they aware of all the medical history and play styles?

That’s one forum I don’t frequent a lot because don’t often get decent rumours but good for a laugh. Looking at the threads emerging, I think they’re questioning Ciraldo a bit more than previously

That clip was hilarious - 100% : 'i have to say something about this, but can't give a position away, so cross-arms shake head and feign ignorance'

My concern is that if he stays until season end it may have a destabilising effect on the club and particularly in the changing room.

I'd hope he could be adult about the situation but the performance so far doesn't scream grown up.
Lock him in the airing cupboard to monitor to home brew!

His management will be saying he’s getting bullied from Fish and Erin (hope so) and wants immediate release to improve his game under Dean Young 🤣

Well we can move on now. I was obviously pro metcalf at 7 but I am not going to argue that now the decision is made.

Tannah should be very proud of what he has achieved here. Players will always thrive when they have the trust by management and his extension and Luke's release definitely gives that. My biggest concern was a mid season 'fight for your spot' and putting undue pressure on both players
I am concerned that all this distraction will have a negative effect on the team and particularly our no 7. Put it all behind you Tanah (at least you know what's like to be dropped from no 7 at the Titans and fight your way back to the NRL via NSW Cup).

I'm pleased for Tanah. This has got to take the pressure off and he can enjoy his footy for a while

I can't say the same for Metcalf. Not even going to fight for his position?
That's a bit sad.
And possibly a bit silly? 900k a year is a lot to ask from a new club
How much will we be liable for after he is released from his contract at the end of this season?

I would have thought Tannah would be in an amazing headspace right now. Went from nearly being on the outer in the NRL completely if it wasn’t for us giving him a lifeline a couple of years ago- to now being the form halfback in the comp, earned a new multi-year extension and the keys to the 7 jersey for the foreseeable future. I’m sure he would have got a bit of a buzz knowing Wayne Bennett was keen to bring him to the bunnies as their starting 7 as well.

Totally agree. This circus needs to move on quickly so it doesn’t distract the team. We got a maiden premiership to bag.

Surely the new rules say media personalities can comment on what's been shown on the damn TV!!? And in the newspapers/on websites!!?

Is Gould's age getting to him? I thought he started looking a bit old and tired a couple of seasons ago but reasoned that maybe he'd decided to not add any colour to his hair anymore (which I'm sure he did!)...

And maybe the fact things aren't going as rosy at the Poodles as he said they would is getting him down...

The comment I found interesting as a non-player was that basically Metcalf wanted to be 7 at the Warriors because he liked the way the Warriors used their 7 - more involvement every set. Would the Bulldogs/Dragons do that? (Assuming they do offer him the 7, otherwise why throw a hissy here?)

If he wants to play origin then i'd hope this kind of thing is light work. That number 7 is thee number in NRL, heavy is the crown.
